And not at all about beer :(

atomicfront, please don't give me your opinion.

You are trolling.

Because he told me to not give my opinion.   I would not give my opinion of beer I haven't drunk before.  If he is going there why does he need your opinion on what beer to drink anyway.  Just drink the beer and make your own opinion.

this is why we have a troll thread, people.

Sorry for feeding the trolls.  Next time I will use the troll thread.
This weekend a friend brought over a Quintine Blonde.  I had high hopes, but something bad must have happened at some point in the past because it was completely flat :(

bummer.  if it was a flip-top, the rubber gasket could have dried out, cracked and leaked.  if you're unlucky, bottle caps can leak too.
brewed an ipa one week ago with the heady topper yeast.  transferred and dry-hopped yesterday, and couldn't help but pull off an extra 12 oz to drink myself.

i must say, that yeast is absolutely incredible in the fact that it makes all the hop bitterness not seem harsh at all.

It was a flip-top - and we assumed that the seal had been compromised at some point.  Unfortunately, it was $10 for 12 ounces…

Anybody had Founders Rubaeus yet?

it's on tap at the Big Hunt.
Thanks.

Funny I called my usual Total Wine and Whole Foods and they said they got none.

I called a second Total Wine and they told me they'd sell me one 12 oz bottle.

I called a third Total Wine and they said they had it but when I got there they had no clue and it took them awhile to find it. When they did, they asked, "How much do you want, a case?" I settled for a four pack.

nope, i said that based off their FB.  i wasn't there.
I recently returned from a multi-week trip to Southern France and northern Spain, with a stint in Pamplona.  I didn't seek out beer bars in any of these places, but nevertheless tried every beer I did see and had roughly 40 different beers on the trip.

All of them were completely and utterly forgetable, with two exceptions.  As a caveat, this was not a beer trip and I did exactly zero research into beer for this trip, so this post is limited to things i just happen to see.

Meduz - http://www.meduz.fr/# - New local brewery in Uzes, France.  The Amber being the real winner and worth seeking out in the beer desert that is the Langudeoc Region of France.  Real smooth, very good full-bodied flavor, quite a surprise.

The Bear Brewery - http://thebearbrewery.com/ - This was the real find.  Way up in the mountains I literally stumbled across this brewery and all of their beers were quite excellent, except the Pilsner which was just another boring French lager.  Their brown and amber were both really good, unfiltered and bottle conditioned; I had to explain to my non-homebrewer friend that the sediment in the bottom was yeast and was fine.

Side note:  We had just hiked up a trail for a few hours and randomly found a field of goats and a guy who made chevre from the milk of said goats.  This guy was not wearing pants and his shirt was unbuttoned and he seemed like he hadn't bathed in several weeks.  So, naturally, we bought the freshest chevre he had and hiked back to our hotel and ate it with the Brown ale (from the Bear Brewery).  Best meal of the trip. Anyway, if ever on the France/Spain border and looking for a place to spend a day and stay, Prats de Mollo was a very pleasant surprise and has good beer.
Wow, awesome post, Imbecile. Sounds like an awesome trip.

Thanks.  It was a great trip.  But too effing hot, except for the small time spent in the mountains.  Unless you're going for San Fermin or to see the Tour de France, or some other event that requires you be in this area in late June/July, it's not worth it especially in Spain.  Oh yeah, and boatloads of tourists suchas myself.  But still, great trip.

The first night there (in Barcelona), I did have a Duff beer while out for a walk.  http://www.duffbeer.co.uk/ - I'd heard it mentioned a few times before and figured I'd try it just to say that i did.  Awful.

I can't decide if buying fresh goat cheese from a man with no pants is the best idea ever, or the worst.
