plot twist: on Dec 31, they take off all the 3F and de la Seine and swap in Leffe Blond and Heineken.
Thanksgiving road trip beer report:

I had:

decent barrel aged barleywines from Revoltion at the Revolution brewpub in Chicago
fantastic barrels aged stouts from Half Acre and a fantastic saison from Keeping Together and some great fries at the Half Acre taproom in Chicago
BA stouT and milkshake IPA that were both pretty meh but food that was good at the Blockhead brewpub in Valpo, IN*
IPA's and food that were both fantastic at Hoof Hearted Kitchen in Columbus

*There was a bar/restaurant on South Bend that had Goose Island Bourbon County Fourteen Stout, the regular BCBS, and the Coke variant all on draft that i would have loved to have gone to, but my father in law, who was taking me to lunch, wasn't interested in driving that far.

I brought home  four packs from Half Acre, Hop Butcher, Hoof Hearted, Revolution, and Dovetail as well as a four pack of a fantastic new 15.1% BA stout from Three Floyds called Crushing Mass. Also snagged a bottle of saison from Keeping Together.

One thing i noted is there seem to be a lot less breweries making hazies, pastry stouts, and dessert sours in the Midwest than on the East Coast.
Yes great but what did you listen to in the car?

When I was driving and wife in passenger seat: some of my 2021 favorites, so i can start to form my best of list.

When wife was driving and daughter in passenger seat: Taylor Swift, Lana del Rey, Dua Lipa, and a handful of other female artists. (probably a slight majority of my music was female artist as well.)
Incoming Mortalis drop at Dominion today. The other brewery looks really good too (average beer score of 4.24 compared to 4.34 for Mortalis.)

^ jelly.  nice haul.
Ironically, we're enjoying this nice haul of jelly:

Part of me is all about an advent calendar of jelly but part of my acknowledges I don't think I'm ready for that.
Finally hit up NRG’s “new” establishment “Shelter” which is part of “Roost”, a culinary club house establishment on Cap Hill.

My friend that lives down there has been trying to get us to join him for brunch since it’s opened, but due to location and well… covid we haven’t made it. It’s an awesome place and essentially a Church Key on the other side of town. There was at least 10ish food options from multiple vendors and probably 50 beers on tap.

If this was in my back yard, I’d imagine being there multiple times a week. It’s sort of a union market style where everything is ordered via phone and it arrives at your table within minutes. Dumplings, pizza, and tacos were all delicious, the multiple beers were good with one crappy hazy by Equilibrium.

Would recommend!

For some reason, I read this as "culinary country club" and my mind did burst with possibilities.

this is an interesting distinction . What makes Shelter different from NRG's other beer bars is its focus on low-abv selections – up to 50% of Shelter's list clocks in below 5% abv.

I drank three pilsners, four IPAs, and one pastry stout.

have you tried Blabaer previously?  i know people get excited about it because it's only available in DK, but i've also heard it's kinda middling…
