The Beer Thread

Thought I was going to get to invite you guys to join me for this, but alas, I can't make it. Already has everything on the list (except maybe the unlisted bottle pours), but I'd drink some of them again if I had the chance…

"We have several surprises for tonight: #1 @GooseIsland Brewer Di is bringing a small amount of 2015 Proprietor's for bottle pours."
Hypeslam starting to hit town.

It's from Michigan, I do approve. Supposedly a week from today in RVA.
More expensive beer coming our way. This from Cascade:

"Exciting news! We are working with distributors to bring Cascade sours to the following states: Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington DC & Wisconsin. We will announce details when we have them!"
interested in checking out New District Brewing Co, but can't make it out to S. Arlington on a Saturday (but are near DuPont during the week)

Details are thin, but they just posted:
New District Brewing Company

New District Nation - Cove is hosting us at their South Dupont location on tomorrow, February 11. We're very excited to check out their space and serve some brews.

Cove is temp workspaces…not sure what it has to do with beer?
Not sure if the beer is free since it's not a bar??

Related…I had their Chocolate Pilsner…meh.  But "the first time' imperial porter was very good.  Also, the lines are finally bearable (first 3 Saturdays it was a 45 min wait to get a beer)
maybe it was a good thing i couldn't make it out last night… between the meridian and CK, i would have gone home a lot poorer.

also got a 6er of these last night and quite enjoyed it (although $18 w/tax was a little steep)

The same night, GBD had this happy hour:

$3 - @UnionBrewing Double Duckpin
$4 - @StoneBrewingCo Enjoy By 2.14.16
$5 - @StBernardus1 St. Bernardus ABT 12

Cans only this year. Split a case with a buddy  ($62).  Bottling date 1/28/16.  It's excellent!  Worth the hype this year IMHO.  Gets better as it warms.  No syrupy sweet presence like last couple years….and the buzz….  It's more like the feel after a session with hop's cousin than your typical DIPA head.

so . . . what's on tap for your super bowl?

mine is as follows,

growler of troegs nugget nectar and a growler of victory 20th anniversary ipa or Deschutes red chair nwpa.

Got a growler of Ocelot Talking Backwards and it further justifies that they might be the best brewery in the DMV right now.

Had a serving of this beer at Smoke and Barrel Wed night. Motherfucker is the real deal.

It's already been said, but yeah… this beer is outstanding. Those Aslin beers are just as good as this, if not better… one of the only times in my life I wished I lived out on 66 somewhere. I'd be hitting that brewery up weekly for fresh fills! It's about time the DC area starts putting out beers that can compete with the NE hops. I can only hope the quality control keeps these beers in check.

Sidehutch, hop on your bike immediately and get out there.

I highly doubt I'll even try hopslam this year, nor does it even come close the flavor profile I enjoy anymore. I was pretty excited to have some fresh Lunch in my fridge, but my pallet has been taken over by beers with that tropical juice bomb feeling. Ahh yeah, brah.

waaaay too cold right now, but Aslin Beer Company, Old Ox, and Beltway are right on the trail
so this spring I'll be strapping one of these on my seat

although might just need to upgrade to this bike
I went to Aslin and Ocelot last weekend. I liked the current IPAs at Aslin a little more than Ocelot, but both excellent. I also checked out the Sovereign this week and had a Lou Pepe Kriek. Their bottle list is amazing. They limit the rare stuff to 1 bottle per group. It would have been a very expensive trip otherwise.
Beltway Brewing in Sterling is having a tap takeover by Grimm (from Brooklyn) this weekend, if that means anything to any of you.

I hope you were wearing a diaper when you read those per ounce prices.

I didn't see prices. Can't make it out that way Fri or Sat anyway.

Hoping to hit Aslin for the first time Sunday. Hope they still have their IPA's flowing. Perfect Valentine refreshment for my hophead wife.

Pricey compared to Ocelot

I think I may prefer the amazing artfully rendered beer board at Aslin

The cheapest growler fill at $31 does not make Space or me for that matter happy. I won't be partaking and was considering it.

Space, I saw Aslin posting about their DIPAs running low the other day, i'm guessing they won't be around Sunday (unless they brewed another one).
