well true….but there were some quality/health concerns

to stop unscrupulous brewers from adding dubious toxic and even hallucinogenic ingredients as preservatives or flavourings.

at the time - some 500 years ago - it did indeed make sense.  water wasn't safe to drink, so beer was a must-have, and you couldn't risk idiots screwing that up too.  "hallucinogenic ingredients" refers to rye ergot

my point was that adhering to the Reinheitsgebot nowadays is stupid - and there are stupid homebrewers out there.  i don't see why you'd limit yourself that way.  even in germany today, those purity rules only apply to lagers which is kinda meaningless since 99% of lagers follow those rules anyways (only benefit is that it prevents the use of rice, corn, or sugar so they can't make crappy american adjunct lagers).  but some idiots try applying it to ales, which rant rant rant you can move on now if you haven't already

While complimenting the space, someone made a rather scathing review of the actual Aslin beer on Beer Advocate. Sadly, I can't really say i disagree.

yes, did sound like he had a horrible time, but seems to have it out for them prior to even going

and who really cares about beer advocate
can't stand some of the idiots who blather on there…why I never read those forums
via Sapwood Cellars Brewery's FB page:

Every time Phish plays Merriweather we get an influx of beer nerds! Coincidentally, this week's variant in an intense extra-dank triple-dry-hopped DIPA… Blaze On! We added a huge dose of Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin to two kegs of Identical Cousins. The first sip is a little like chewing on a raw hop cone! Pours should be available through Saturday and ask your bartender about crowlers too.

i've consistently been getting Freemont and Georgetown (makers of Bodhizafa) that is 2 days old in my local grocery store.

new record: got a few 6-packs of Bodhi that were packaged the previous day.  so in 24 hours they had time to can the beer, package and pallet it, get it to a distributor's warehouse, re-pallet it with other beers, and get it delivered to stores (including mine, which is some 42 miles away from the brewery).  people keep talking about supply chain problems, maybe they need to take to the folks distributing Georgetown.
what a great marketing campaing by the defunct Arlington Brewing co
Brainfood!

Love that phone number: west 129

From 1895 until 1917, Arlington had its own brewery built on the banks of the Potomac where the Rosslyn Marriott now stands.  The brewery was originally named the Consumers Brewing Company until 1902 when it was renamed the Arlington Brewing Company.  The brewery was a large red brick building with turrets at each end, a clock tower in the center, and tall smokestack with horse and mule shoes nailed to the top for good luck.
The brewery sold to legal saloons that dotted Rosslyn and D.C. and it also sold to the many illegal saloons, gambling houses, and brothels that crowded Rosslyn and Jackson City to serve Washington thirsts.  As the idea of Prohibition became more popular and the brewery expanded sales to individuals, the brewery offered to help protect your reputation with free local delivery of its products in unmarked wagons.
Prohibition killed this brewery after Virginia went dry in the autumn of 1916 and Congress outlawed alcohol in D.C. the following year.

I'm sure Yada would have hated it
but did they even haze, bro?

Wouldn't be surprised if they go the way of 3 Stars in the near future.
