We're headed to ST Petersburg for a little vacation and by the looks of this, we're going about four months too early.

So Lately I've been digging porters and I had this once before and wasn't blown away
but was at the RNRhotel and said why not, even against James recommendations
Well the beer was…yes mediocre and a little fizzy
but the highlight was the hot inked barmaid going to the register and clicking on the SWEET BJ button
kinda made it worth it

heads-up homebrewers: next year's national homebrewer's conference (NHC 2016) will be in baltimore! june 9-11. those who homebrew should seriously consider attending. those of you who don't brew should start ;D
i just came back from
this year's edition in san diego and it was a complete, utter blast. got to SD 2 days in advance and soaked up the beer scene. then it was off to the conference where it was 3 days of seminars, vendor expo, beer, beer and more beer. at Pro night, vinnie cirlurzo served 2012 Beatification from a 3 liter magnum (i went from Sour in the Rye –> Consecration –> Council Beatitude on blueberries –> Beatification… what a run). club night was wild as always - tasted so many amazing sours. thanks for SD's amazing weather, both pro night and club night were held outdoors under the moon and palms. what a setup for a night of great beer.
brought back a suitcase full of:
- FW Stickee Monkee
- Stone Enjoy After 7.04.16
- Monkish Selah
- Old Guardian 2010
- Modern Times Mega Black House
- Old Numbskull & Speedway Stout (cheap!)
i miss my beercation…

SBJ really does suck. first time i got a 6-pack, i assumed i got an infected back - no one would brew this on purpose, i told myself. alas, apparently it's not a mistake. my brain still can't process this factoid: "The beer accounts for 35 percent to 40 percent of DuClaw?s sales, making it the company?s most popular beer". the mind boggles.

This article was trending on reddit this morning about a guy who is basically the de facto czar of beer bottle labeling in America. Interesting read.

shelton is the exclusive distributor for several european beers, including Cantillon. some folks are upset with the distribution of these beers… is that it?

there infrequent distribution, their east to west strategy (we typically get what you guys dont want), and pretty much everything they distribute is high $ per oz.

From the Shelton Bro's FB Page: "Love Cantillon? Then listen up! Not only will Jean be at The Festival again this year, pouring all sorts of goodies and being his charming self, but he's also doing something totally new and pretty awesome: He's bringing his unique Festival Blend of Gueuze, along with the lambics that went into it. The one-, two-, and three-year lambics will be available individually so you can try different combinations and blend your own, then compare it to Jean's blend of the same lambics. Think of it as a choose-your-own-adventure guide to Gueuze. This will be available at EVERY SESSION, but once it's gone, it's gone."

I haven't been the Charleston, but I've read that Coast is the second best brewery to check out in Chareston.

We're down in St Petersburg right now. I thought Jai Alai was the best IPA in Florida, until I had this one….which may be the best single IPA I've ever had.
http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22147/114831/We've stopped at Rapp, 7venth Sun, and Cycle so far. All Excellent. Also headed to Coppertail, Angry Chair, and of course Cigar City, all in Tampa.
Then I head to Wisconsin on Sunday for work and of course have to drive to New Glarus…

I do plan to fill the suitcase whose transport is being paid for by my employer with 50 pounds of New Glarus beers. Minus the weight if the suitcase.
Now you just need to host a 9:30 Forum bottle share and invite us and I will bring copious amounts of NG. ;D

Not beer, but go to Jestine's Kitchen.
