Sunday, August 18 ? The Bluejacket Sneak Preview BBQ ? To cap off the week, Bluejacket will host its first-ever soiree from 3 PM to 7 PM at the soon-to-open brewery, slated to officially open in early September. The Bluejacket team invites you to join them for a good ol' fashion Sunday backyard BBQ, an intimate gathering, hosted by Beer Director Greg Engert and Brewmaster Megan Parisi, that will feature a number of Bluejacket brews, a selection of backyard BBQ eats by Executive Chef Kyle Bailey, plus a guided tour of the three-vessel brewhouse, barrel-aging platforms and 19 different fermentation vessels, all encompassed within the multi-leveled 11,000 square-foot space. Tickets are priced at $65 per person and include all food and beverage. Tickets go on sale on Monday, July 22 at 12 noon through Eventbrite. - See more at: http://www.dcbeer.com/news/dc-beer-week-announces-slate-flagship-events?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter#sthash.lXhzNSGa.dpuf
The Beer Thread
I always forget about Unibroue. But they are owned by Sapporo, so they're a special case.
Same experience for me. Tons of Quebec beers, no clues which ones to bring home. This time I think I'll check out Beer Advocate and Ratebeer. ;D As well as go somewhere else in addition to the Dieu du Ciel brewpub.

unibroue ;D
when i was last there, over Christmas, i was blown away with how many microbrews were available in depaneurs (convenience stores). 99% were brands i had never heard of. i would expect many of them to be merely average, like most new craft breweries, but the choice was impressive.

I'm not even sure where to begin in my beer travels of the weekend, but it was the best beer adventure I've ever been on and I'm willing to say that Burlington is the best beer town in the country (probably world).
Highlights:
Lawson's Fayston Maple Imperial Stout
Lawson's Double Sunshine IPA
Lawson's Chinooker'd IPA
Hill Farmstead Society & Solitude #5
Hill Farmstead Edward
Heady Topper (by the can and on cask)
It's a shame atomicfront will never get to try any of these great beers.
I wonder why someone who has another person on ignore care about what beer that person gets a chance to drink? Who knows though..maybe one day they will ship the stuff to Maryland or I will have to travel on business to Vermont.

I went to a party Saturday where the beer choices were:
Sam Adams Summer Ale
Yuengling
Corona Light (or regular Corona…is there a difference?)
Leinenkugel Summer Shandy
I had the Sam. Was fine for washing down the spicey food they were serving, but I couldn't finish the second bottle once I was out of food.
You should have told the host how stupid they were for not buying superior beer and thrown a Yuengling at them and said check Beer Advocate next time.
I am not a fan Sam Adams Summer Ale. I would probably have drunk the Corona if they had limes.
I wonder if people get paid to give good reviews on Beer Advocate like they do on Amazon.
It seems like the breweries that get the best reviews are the ones that would have the least amount of money for that sort of thing.

any1 have a clue what could warrant a beer called "Oliver Draft Punk" to be $16 for a 7oz pour at pizzeria paridisio?
sounds like a beermenus misprint, but I'd definitely hit this one at half price:
De Molen Hel & Verdoemenis
(have one sitting in my cellar)

My only regret of my trip was not getting to spend a bit more time in Waterbury. Prohibition Pig and that place are about 100 feet from each other.

And don't forget blackback - exactly half way bewteen pro pig and reservoir on the other side of the street - that street in Waterbury probably has the greatest concentration of great beer on draft anywhere in the US!

What is the menu like there? Do they have the full Mad River Taco menu, or limited selection?
Think my two day game plan is:
Thurs: Montreal to Hill Farmstead to Rock Art to Von Trapp (lunch at their bakery/deli plus their beer) to Alchemist to Farmhouse T&G.
Friday: Burlington to Winooski Bev Center (Lawson's), maybe Magic Hat, to WAterbury for lunch (Pig or REsevoir) to Warren area (hiking, Warren Store, maybe Mad River Taco) to my mom's in upstate NY.

I'd get to Alchemist first thing Thursday if they lift the two case limit or you'll be coming home with no Topper. Even if they don't lift the two case limit, might be cutting it close.
Also, that's a damn aggressive couple of days!
the food is way better at the pig than at reservoir
didn't eat at black back so don't know
