Wings at DC Brau today…as of 2pm, they sold half of the cases.

I will never buy this beer again.

Something has happened in either their canning process or their recipe since they first released this beer as it basically tastes awful now IMO.

The one saving grace of that brewery was Wings, now there is nothing there worth drinking IMO.
I'll be happy to give you $2 per unopened can from this last batch.

is it still $18? because i never understood how they could justify such a ridiculous price.

Not too much of a surprise that Seattle would have the best beer selection and the Yankees would have the worst.

this is neat. they have fremont and balebreaker always on tap, both incredible breweries.  hell, balebreaker makes a pale ale (field 41) and an IPA (top cutter) that are pretty much cream of the crop in the PNW.  it helps their brewery is right in the middle of yakima valley.
Comparing the top 5 for San Diego vs. the top 5 For Seattle, I'm not sure how San Diego only comes in t #8.

indeed.  looks like there's an unreasonable bias towards quantity in whatever equation was used.  there's plenty of options at safeco, but a lot of them are meh

It came to $20 a sixer after taxes. I was willing to pay that when it first came out, but I stand firm that either the recipe changed or something during the canning process is giving it a strange taste…as it warms up a bit, I find it undrinkable.
So is anyone attending any of the DC beer week events?
http://dcbeerweek.net/
Just did a cursory look and i'm not that impressed

would like to know if any one saw a good one that I over looked

i don't doubt that the taste is different, but maybe they had an off batch (happens a lot with DIPAs), and i wonder if you had something before drinking that altered your pallet or the taste.

That's two off batches then in the past 8 months. The last time I had Wings was around Xmas of last year and it also tasted off. I couldn't even get through the sixer. Maybe my palette has changed but ohhhhhh something ain't right.
It's just you.

The 10 most recent scores on Beer Advocate, all since August 13, have a mean of 4.42, in line with the 4.34 overall average.

And Beer Advocate is always right.

Stone announces its three finalists for its East Coast brewery location…

Columbus, Richmond, and Norfolk are indeed the three finalists
this was announced 2 weeks ago, and no one has shared this news yet?  y'all be slackin'.

Dear Friends,

Great news, Cantillon is expanding.
Since last year, we are looking for a new space and we got it.
The new building is located at 300m far from the brewery and, as you can see on the picture, it welcomed till the sixties a Lambic blender, Brasserie Limbourg.
The new space is big enough to dubbel the Cantillon's production.
Because we can't disturb the balance between new and old Lambic in our blend, we will increase the production each year to finally dubbel it in the four next year.
The wort, brewed at the Cantillon's brewery, will be transfered the day after the coolling and will matured for years in the new location.
As you know, we need at least two or three years to produce a beer. In this way to work, the next production increasing will take place during the season 2016-2017.
The building will be at our disposal next October, more news will follow.
Cheers,

Jean

1. that's a hilarious translation
2. they are still distributed by shelton brothers
3. doubling production? it already has a nearly non-existent presence in the US, what's doubling going to do?  a few extra people will be able to drop $30 for a mid-tier 5% sour bottle and then never see the product again?

yawn.
and just a minor addition to the above ^^

the only bottles i've seen around WA are some of their mid-tier offerings.  lou pepe, iris, and fou foune have been seen on tap during special events, but they are usually crazy expensive and gone within minutes.  and of course, there are bottle offerings at brouwers and such, but the price tag is usually outrageous.  i just dont' see myself seeing out cantillon any more than i did before… not saying they don't make fantastic beer, but i'd rather save that money for a trip to belgium and get to enjoy it at the brewery sometime in the near future :D

it's statements like that that make me disregard your opinions…  :P

almost all of their shit is 5%.

almost all of their 750ml is priced above $30.

almost all you'll ever see is their average ass shit and never the good stuff.

i just tell it how it is.
