Nugget Nectar hitting DC today, I hope to find some cans.

I enjoy this year's offering.  It seems lighter to me than in year's past.  Also, I love that they've offered it in tall boys as well this year.

Any news on Hopslam?  I have a sneaking suspicion it will be hitting DC stores this week.

Hopslam has already hit PA.

Speaking of beer cans.  This, my hophead friends, is a beautiful thing-

Even more beautiful. I will agree though, the Nugget Nectar is quite delicious this year!

So drank up some of my first batch of homebrew this week
and very pleased with the results…body was a little off, but taste, smell and color were great

nice! i assume that is the "before" pic?  hydrometer looks pretty high to be post-fermentation… ;D
here is the after pic

At first putting in fermenter 1.050 (first pic

At bottling  1.020
I just bottled the Brown Ale last night
Which I'm affectionately calling James Brown Ale ….cause it's a little funky ;)

Also just received delivery of
Beer Making Mix: Warrior Double IPA
Beer Making Mix: Chocolate Maple Porter
Beer Making Mix: Evil Twin Bikini Beer

do to some space limitations at my place…I've been doing the 1 Gallon batches
but I will say I may upgrade to 5 gallon soon, as the 4-5 hours of labor would be exactly the same…but I would get over 2 cases of beer, instead of 10 bottles
def.must.upgrade.more.beer.is.good.
this is all i got for this thread

The Brewer's Art Zeke's Coffee Porter is one of the best beers I've had in a really long time. They're going to bottle it. Should be available on the 11th!

do it.  will mean that a few of your bottles will last long enough to get some age on them.  or that you have enough to share without feeling possessive ;D

Looking forward to popping open a Hardywood Gingerbread Stout tonight!

got some bourbon barrel aged gingerbread stout today.  looking forward to this one.
I had Hardywood's Milkman and Cigar City's Milkmaid. Put 'em together to make "The Heifer" as well. Pretty good strong stuff.
i'm not particularly excited for hopslam.  maybe i'll change my mind if reports are that this year's batch is amaze-balls, but barring that i doubt i'll buy any.  i'm not sure if the beer has gotten worse or if my tastes have change, but the last few years i've been underwhelmed.

an IIPA that i am really excited about is flying dog's single hop HBC-431.  it's a one-time release made with a new experimental hop that tastes amazing.  get it while you can.

My opinion is that there are just too many way better DIPAs than Hopslam. Five years or so ago it was one of kind, but now everyone makes a killer IPA/DIPA.
From the weekend:, almost all IPAs, IIPAs, or IIIPAs:

Headland Brewing Hill 88
Alpine Beer Co. Hoppy Birthday
Faction Brewing 2 Hop Pale (Amarillo/Polaris)
Faction Brewing 2 Hop Pale (El Dorado/Polaris)
Faction Brewing Winter IPA
Faction Brewing Monstrous Cabal (collaboration with Gigantic Brewing)
Faction Brewing Pennypacker 120
Pliny the Younger
Bear Republic Fastback Racer X3
Boneyard Beer Co Hop Venom
Societe Brewing The Roustabout
Societe Brewing The Miser
Almanac Beer Co Don't Call it Frisco
Line 51 High Plains Drifter
Monkey Paw Brewing Muriqui
Monkey Paw Brewing Migrating Monkey (collaboration with Drakes)
Lagunitas Fusion 22
Mraz Brewing EDH IPA
Ell Segundo Brewing Hop Tanker
Figueroa Mountain Brewing Lizard's Mouth

I really enjoyed both Societe pours, both Monkey Paws, and the Faction/Giagantic collaboration.
^^very nice^^
