i thought after the last tour they said they weren't going to bother touring the US anymore because it was expensive?

…then again, in mid-2003 they had something on their website about playing in baghdad in september (of that year).
Hey Seth,

Portishead is apparently playing in Hollywood (nov. 13).

maybe the 930 could be on the itinerary?
dunno if 930 is too small a venue for them, so do what you must… just put DC on their itinerary!
(in case seth doesn't read JA)

any chance of getting the Stooges down here around the time of their other shows in late August/early September so I don't have to trek to AC?

Ditto that…I think I'm getting a friday ticket to ATP to see them and Mudhoney but if they played down here i'd see that as well…

If a local show doesn't pan out, I suggest taking our approach and making a weekend of it.  My Morning Jacket is playing in Philly that Sunday night at very cool looking new venue right on the riverfront.

Maybe because you're a mod you couldn't post the quote, but I will because I loved it:

After a brief discussion on Live Nation….

"Sales are down in bad situations, like they should be," Hurwitz says. "But, you know, talking about the concert business as a whole, as it relates to the large companies that try to run the whole industry, is a little like asking BP, 'How's the oil business these days?' "

hehe.

And then:

The Concert As 'Product'

According to Hurwitz, a promoter's first responsibility is to make sure the concertgoing experience is a good one.

"Buying a band for the entire country is treating it like it's product," Hurwitz says. "And, although it's product in that we're all trying to make money at this, if you treat the country and if you treat everyone like it's product, then that's how they're going to treat you."
is there no possible way you can get the Slash tour to come to 9:30 or DAR?

Sept. 14 - New York, NY - Terminal 5
Sept. 15 - Boston, MA - House of Blues
Sept. 18 - Norfolk, VA - The Norva

they have a 3 day break in between the Boston and Norfolk date. Please? :D

great news!

another thing TF added recently, for MPP shows, is the ability to pick seats from a seat map.  i really like that feature - the system's definition of "best available" isn't always mine.

Yes! More and more venues have been adding this feature over the last year or two. It's so much better than getting stuck with random seats.

However, every time I've used a feature like this it's for a show that doesn't sell out fast. How does this system work for a show that is a sure quick sell-out? People won't be able to pick their own seats. I'm assuming then it's just like the current system.
Hey Guys-

The seat-picking feature depends on the event and is at the discretion of MPP. For high demand shows it is typically not an option to choose your owns seats at the start of a sale. Just FYI!

But it's great feedback that you guys prefer this feature. I'll pass it along.
