Hey Seth

I'm still waiting for the "official" announcement before I get too excited.

But containing my excitement for this show is pretty damn hard.
i did not, and do not, know who this band is . . . so i looked them up on the ole wikipedia thing.  interesting history that does date back there, albums into the present day, a storied career like something out of fiction (there was even a festival show with the beastie boys somewhere crazy where anarchists attacked) and of course the kraftwerk connections.  but the highlight read was that they "are also known as" :  Lemon Interupt, Steppin' Razor, Mr. and Mrs. Christmas

I first heard of them from the movie Trainspotting.  The song "Born Slippy" was in that movie and one of their biggest hits.  I've seen them a few years ago at All Points West.  Not too shabby as they played before Radiohead came on.  Here is a song you and your cats can dance to  ;D

i was at that APW, on the rail, and it was one of the only times i forgot my etymotics.  some amount of hearing damage ensued.  throughout underworld's set, the big burly techs had to nudge the array of 6-foot tall bass cabs back in to place - they were so loud that they were jumping around and falling off the platform.  t'was an impressive sight… and sound.  sooooooooooo can't wait to see them at the club (i've already told work i'll need to travel on tuesday that week instead of monday).  this time i won't be forgetting my ear protection.

dork alert: the song you linked to is "born slippy .nuxx"; "born slippy" is an instrumental track that most people have never heard.  i'll go crawl back under my rock now.

yes, I have just found out that the entire time I thought it was born slippy but it's suppose to be born slippy nuxx  ;D
I saw them back at V-fest in 2008. It was at night in the dance tent with only a few hundred people. Amazing show.

Heres a pic I got:

i have a bunch of really good pix from the APW show, i'll have to dog them up later this week.
That APW show looked like a pooper… during the day, with a crowd full of Radiohead fanatics just bobbing their head to Underworld while waiting for the next act to come on.

All the more reason to have a club show!

I still regret that being the only year i skipped out on V Fest.  I really wanted to see Underworld.  Ill definitely be at the club show.
saw them at the club late 90s

I think the show loses a lot by the mere fact that emerson is no longer with them and they haven't done anything thats made any sort of impact in over ten years..

it turns into a retro show…."lager lager"

i'd still enjoy it just cause i llike their stuff with emerson so much but after he left it just wasn't even lose to the same

moreover, its not a show that really benefits that much from you actually being there…. its all programmed beats anyways.. you'd do just fine to get a big room put onthe UNDERWORLD LIVE DVD (Which is fantastic) on a big screen, crank it up, do whatever drug is your choice, and bop around

but to each their own…

like i said.. i could see it being fun but at least when i saw them there it didn't benefit from being at the 930..i mean it was weird..it ended at 11:30 the lights went on and that was it…and underworld is not your typical rock show..would have been better at nation at 2 am or something (I did see Emerson there)

glad its coming to dc
I've seen them 3 times - some restored opera house in NYC, Central Park NYC, and in the rain at Giant's Stadium for Field Day Fest.

Opera house set sounded awesome indoors.
Central Park was the most recent and they really mixed it up live - very cool live versions of classics.
The Field Day rain set was the most fun - 10,000 people raving in yellow rain ponchos - hilariously intense.
Model 500 opening for the electronica duo that shall not be named?
hey seth - thanks for underworld.  nice pull.
You know… a quiet little presale for D-Plan would be swell.    ;)
Can we PLEASE get George Thorogood and the Destroyers? He drinks alone…with nobody else.

you know, i was gonna say something rude and mean about george not putting out anything good or memorable in like the last 20 years and having to fall back on songs like his five standards, three of which were covers . . . but then i checked out his last two albums, released not that long ago.  not that bad after all.  i hate having to give something a chance before commenting on it.
