Hey Seth

suck up.
Yeah all said I agree with hutch, hands down.  If the choice is dead-set DAR vs. Strath, I take Strath 100 times out of 100.

I haven't meant for this question to come across as a complaint, I was just curious what factors drove the decision  ;D

Why not bring The Pixies into the city, ideally 930?

Because Black Francis can't fix through the doors anymore?

I don't understand all the D.A.R. hate.  Am I the only one who has had perfectly acceptable concert experiences there?  I guess I'm not an audiophile when it comes to concert sound.  As long as the beer is cheap and the girls are raising their tops and I can slamdance….

No, you're not.
brian is having motley crue, nineteen eighty five, flashbacks again.

Seth if you're reading I will take Strathmore over DAR any day of the week..even if it costs more.

the sound is excellent at Strathmore and awful at DAR..the sight lines are excellent at Strathmore and awful at DAR

anyhow, thank for all the great show you guy book..it is very much appreciated.

I'll start with echoing the thanks.  Feel lucky to live in the area and have IMP / 930 so close :)

The DAR vs Strathmore booking likely would have made a difference for me with John Fogerty. (I chose not to go because of the venue!)  I generally don't even consider shows at DAR - Neutral Milk Hotel being the only exception in probably a decade.

Oddly, I have seen Joan Baez from the front row in both venues (Strathmore 2010, CH 1988?).  Strathmore wins by a million miles.

DAR is a decent venue if you're sitting in the front half of the venue and the sound guys know what they're doing.  so if your seats & the techs align, as they have for me 90% of the time at DAR, i've had enjoyable experiences there.  it's an indictment of the venue that you need to put conditions on having a good experience there, but i just roll with the punches.
DAR is better for rock shows than Strathmore.
How about a screening of Stuart Murdoch new movie "God Help The Girl" along with a little dance party.

If this happens again, I will do the same thing I did when that was at Verizon - Go and look at merch while QOTSA play.  I really don't get the love for this band… It takes all kinds I suppose.

Also Placebo!

I'm glad some folks don't get QOTSA. They're one of those bands I want to hog to myself. I'm glad they're selling records and a lot of concert tickets, but I enjoy not having to fight a ton of other people for tickets to their shows too. That being said, I long for the days when I could see them at the 9:30, and methinks those days are gone.
