Hey Seth

As far as fucking up goes by not attending, we non-attendees have our reasons. Otherwise, yeah.

Now please go get us a Maroon 5-less Hives show. Guaranteed sell-out, you know it :)
I'm going to V Fest. I have no money and nowhere to stay, but so far that isn't stopping me.

Bnyced0, I think at least one of us is going to be disappointed. ;)

The biggest reason we don't release schedules is because they're not finalized until pretty late…just finished V Fest this week and will put it out shortly

other than that, as you will soon see, it will inspire a cacaphony of forum complaints, with people taking great pride in demonstrating their other-worldly hipness by declaring how inconsiderate it was to have their personal discovery band overlapping with another, or how positively unbearable it might be to have 2 bands on at the same time that they have long since abandoned due to commercial success, thus giving them nothing to do for an hour and be forced to walk around & socialize

followed by the usual declarations of how they are abandoning our local event in favor of travelling to see Daft Punk

all of which greatly amuses me, as people are actually so sheep-like in their strive to prove different

lighten the fuck up and enjoy life I say to the aforementioned

in & out priveleges…where do I begin…

it's hard enough getting everyone in the first time without having to do it over & over

then, of course, there's the scam factor

and where is it that people need to go exactly?

can't be for anything good but, if there is a legitimate reason, we try to listen and make exceptions, but understand that someone needing to go out for an illegitimate reason is going to tell us otherwise so, of course, that ruins the trust for everyone

in terms of food & beverage sales, we absolutely count on that to pay for everything so, no, we cannot afford to lose that opportunity…sorry, that's just life in a capitalist system…and we are not subsidized by the Park Service like Wolf Trap

so when you are hoisting that cold one, think of it is going towards your favorite band

or, if you want to be miserable, dwell on how it as paying for the one you wish wasn't playing

we're going to try to do everything we can to make sure that people coming to the show have a great time, and that the ones who don't realize they fucked up

it will be fun I promise
Interesting. I finished this entry and thought, what a dick. You sure seem to have a lot of bitterness and contempt for your customers.

Oh well. Cool club though.
Seth, Will there be any contests available for entry on the front page soon? I haven't seen any in awhile. (I sound really greedy after the other forumite's lengthy post and all that Seth does year-round…) Mostly, I'm just curious..also about possible 2-for-1 ticket deals, or $10-12 specials in the future?

hum, no more so then when customers can't get ticket to a sold-out show, or see the schedule changed, or be kicked out for breaking the rules, etc etc etc

<re-lurk>
book prince for a 21 night run in dc. 21 nights at the 930club. $31.21 each. sweet

if not, just get prince to play in the area for one night
Actually, how cool would it be to have Prince come and play and each night he would do one album, from start to finish, with assorted favorites? I'd want to show up the night he plays "Dirty Mind". That would be an awesome show.
i really doubt if prince would do complete album shows. but hes incredible live, so whatever he plays it would be great.

Unfortunately, he doesn't do much of "dirty" anything these days. He's purged the smut out of his sets, he's still one of the best out there and a can't miss show, but oh how I relish the memories of those raunchy concerts….

I miss the "nasty" Prince as well. His CDs have helped me out many a night. Many . . .

Woke up the next morning/
And Nikki wasn't there/
Looked around & all I found/
was a phone number on the stairs/
It said "Thank you for a fun-kay time/
Call me up whenever you wanna grind . . .
Spoon appear to have a DC sized hole in their touring schedule between NY and NC I think - any chance of filling it with a show at the club?

Loving the new record . .
I'm sure they will announce a 9:30 date after the Virgin Fest date is over…

you just missed them yet again for the billionth time playing in nyc. not sure if it was a full tour (doubtful), but i swear they have a show here every few months and ive managed to see them all.

'art brut top of the pops'
Seriously, if only he had moved to NYC, everything would be coming up georgewendt.
uh yeah - that wasnt my point. most bands get through to DC. just meant that art brut seems to be here every single month that it seems like they nearly live here - thus you could see them here all the time.

heres where you can currently see them till they do a full tour for the newest album. seems theyre at lots of festivals.

Hey Seth… I know I asked this a while back just wanted to rekindle the concept. A Rage Against the Machine show at the club (and me getting tickets of course) would make it so I could die a happy man! I am eagerly awaiting the announcement (of the show, not my pending death).

Thanks,
DB
