you could bet on how many copies new releases will sell in their first week. could even parlay your bets, go for trifectas, etc.

i'd be happy to bet that calvin harris will sell out the 930 club, if anyone wants a piece of that action.

thats a possibility but unless you follow sales numbers it would be hard to make intelligent guesses…

I was thinking about making a challenge of guessing the actual final lineup of Virgin Festival after the artists were announced. i.e. which stage and order
when it comes to gambling, intelligence is optional :p

betting on final virgin line-up: great idea! i'd be interested in participating in that pool should it go down next year.

well there is a big difference between predicting that something will sell 546,000 units and it actually selling 253,000 units. I have no idea what the market for first week sales of any of the popular artists would be…

well we could do it for any festival really where a confirmed lineup is announced… But anyone with several stages like Coachella or Bonnaroo could be tough
right, virgin would be manageable - plus, it's "our" festival, so to speak, so the gambling pool could serve as a hype machine.
To keep this on topic, yet again:

Queens of the Stone Age

Me asking for Seth to make sure Queens of the Stone Age would play a certain song in my request to get them at the club was a joke.

I thought that was so rediculous of a thing to ask a club promoter to do that this would be obvious.

A few years ago, twangirl (the club's booker) asked who should open for Idlewild. Several people suggested the Put-Outs and, voila, the Put-Outs opened the show.

Not really what I meant considering adding someone to an already established date as an opener isn't particularly earth shattering as openers change last minute all the time, and sales projections were based on the headliner, but that is interesting, just not quite on point. It was a solicited suggestion, not an organic request, which would've been utterly asinine if it weren't going to be taken into consideration.
just want to thank seth for the HIM shows back to back nights in DC and Baltimore. Great way to end my weekend at home from a college break and a sweet early birthday gift to me :)

That's the worst present anyone has ever been given.
not for me, i love the band that im going to see. and even though it may not be a band that everyone likes (or you for that matter), the fact is that its your own personal taste. im excited i get to see one of my favorite bands play back to back shows while im at home for a college break. and im sure if one of your favorite bands played back to back nights you would be just as excited as well. the difference is i wouldnt give you shit for it, because even though the band you may like is not one i may like, i still have the respect for the fact that the band you like is coming around and im not going to make you feel like an ass for liking the music that they make… so happy early birthday to me and im going to celebrate it the way i damn well please
indeed, you can cry if you want to.

Or, in this case, you can "listen to latently homoerotic faux-goth metal" if you want to.

I wouldnt mind going……. 6 years ago.

Sigulium Diabolis is still a badass song.
yeah, im more of a fan of the older stuff as well. dont get me wrong i still like some of their new stuff (dark light, venus doom) but imo its not the same, it seems as if once "wings of a butterfly" was released and they started to gain exposure they make their music more targeted towards american mainstream
thanks for a great week seth. loved seeing kol, brmc, and the roots crew.
Razorblade Romance was a good album, they started losing me at Love Metal. It seemed to get wayyy too soft and then they were on MTV2 all day long and I hated Wings Of A Butterfly. And eventually became completely uninterested in them.

Bleh.
