Tell me how the set times helps you exactly

Speaking for myself, my work schedule is such that sometimes I don't get to leave until about 9pm. If a show starts at 9:30, I can figure out if I can make it to the club in time…sometimes, I'll be able to time it so that I can leave work, change out of my suit, then get there just in time to see the headliner take the stage. The set times have become so helpful and ultimately can make me decide whether or not I attend a show. It's pretty disappointing when you think you can see a show, then realizing the band went on 30 minutes earlier than you anticipated and you miss the bulk of the concert. Even though you can try to guess the set times, it's very much a crapshoot until the day of.

anyways, Seth the set times being posted on the site the day of show is HUGE..
please get that back up somewhere…. yes one can estimate but one never feels too comfortable about estimating..and when i called the 930 about the set times a few days ago they didn't know…for people with kids, work, etc it can make a big difference to being able to make a show on time without extra stress and freaking out….
Ditto
I'm literally stunned someone who runs multiple music venues cannot figure out why it might be helpful to know what time a band is going on stage. That response belies a person who is either being willfully obtuse or has an almost walrus-esque inability to grasp the construct of time and how it impacts the lives of humans.
Nothing says 'rock'n roll" like adhering to a set schedule.

There's nothing really 'rock'n roll" about the 9:30 Club.
And that's a good thing.
Anthem'd.

I live in Reston, have a 5 year old. If I can make a show at the club, it will usually mean driving in on the later side. I'll still probably hit traffic, and I need to know if it's worth my time to maybe see half of the headliner's set.
my assumption is Seth is just being a bit fececious in this here thread and due to the really modern new website, they'll be updates soon to come.

yeah, he's being a bit of shithead.

1 I am using hyperbolic language for dramatic effect and, in no way, approach any regret related to blocking Hutch.

While Seth's face does look like it had a collision with a Mack truck, I'm bet dollars to donuts that he does indeed have a very large penis.

Wait. She got a haircut?!? Do tell!

Seth wants you in there spending money on his food and drink, so if he doesn't post the set times, your concern over missing the headliner will have you there early, presumably spending money.
Makes perfect business sense to me.

While I do agree with vs…getting people in early helps bar sales
for a long time it was a given the set times would be there and I have come to depend on it for scheduling for almost every show
I will say that I have always been impressed how the 930 club keeps the talent to stick to the set times
Bands are rarely more than a minute or two late at most IMP shows
So do you think this was a business decision to remove the set times or just an oversight

I'm sorta thinking it is an oversight with the transition to the new web stuff. But now the issue has I.M.P.'s attention.
The bar revenue thing (and any increased entry lines or smoking-area gathering at announced start time) probably doesn't affect the majority of the crowd. Us, on the Board, know of the resource of settimes and make use of that but the clear majority of the crowd – since the place is usually crowded enough by the time we get in there – is already there and buying drinks. But an extra beer or two multiplied by X number of people who show up "too early" multiplied by Y number of shows…. well that does add up. Yes, I.M.P., that's true.
But in today's world, especially because the set-times were part of our lives for so long, and lives now are scheduled more and more, and we've all got smartphones to enable our busy world, we want and need the times, I.M.P. (If anything, lie a little teensy bit to force us in a little early. And adjust the pattern so we don't detect it….. But better to not tinker) If you take away the set-times, might as well take away our free water at the end of the bar too. :(
