Yeah it typically doesn't take this long.
Hey Seth
Dearest Sethwald,
My last experience at your award-winning establishment which involved a fine groups of chaps appearing under the moniker "The Presets" was, to the best of my recollection, entirely delightful.
It has been brought to my attention that this gaggle of antipodians is once again on tour, and will be playing in New York (how dreadful) in June. If not too much to ask, would it be possible to summon them to the club?
Pip pip and cheerio,
S. Cell, ESQ

Amen…that night was friggin' insane. The Sneaker Pimps had the main dressing room and was hanging out with them before the show. Aphex Twin was something I'll never forget though. What a night.
cool… but any chance we could get a few details about why the night was so memorable?
Mike Doughty, please.

Hahahaha every reference to this show is always so vague…
Like "if you were there, you know…"

For the VFest, in the early afternoon Cheap Trick-cool-older-fogey-band slot, may I suggest From the Jam. Just saw them tonight at the B'mere and they rocked. Bruce and Rick still playing superbly and a guitarist/vocalist who's a 40-year-old Weller acolyte. Put 'em on the big stage and from a distance you'd never know the difference. Set list included "Town Called Malice" "Going Underground", "Eton Rifles", "David Watts", "In the City", "This is the Modern World" and lots more. The crowd dug it tonight and they'll love it at the VFest. Also opener Hugh Cornwell was no slouch either; good aggressive, well-played set out of him too.
How about booking Mark Kozelek/Sun Kil Moon at the club in June? He's playing Philly, NY, and has some open dates.

Koz hasn't played DC or NOVA since 2001's Old Ramon tour. The time has come!

It was a wild, decadent night, and the fact that it all happened at Aphex Twin just made it all the more insane. One highlight: communicating telepathically with the 2 stoned girls next to me while the "Donkey Rhubarb" teddy bears came out on stage dancing. We all looked at each as though we had just simultaneously gone insane, then burst out laughing. You kinda had to be there. Sometime at a forum gathering I might elaborate when I've had a few drinks in me.
