Seriously Seth…you did 4 nights of Thievery last December, and even though there's 4 nights of the Decemberists this year, how about at least 2 or 3 nights of Queens of the Stone Age? They get back from Europe in early December. Any chance for them to do some gigs between December 13th through 19th? They'll sell out 2 nights at the club easy. And we'll drink a lot of booze too!

Any word on dates for next year's V-Fest?

After the sheer awesomeness that went down in Baltimore last night, I need to echo what others are saying:

The Sex Pistols have announced they'll play a private club show for fans October 25 at The Roxy in Los Angeles to help mark the 30th anniversary of the release of Never Mind The Bollocksâ?¦Here's The Sex Pistols.
The performance comes in advance of four shows at The Brixton Academy in London on November 8, 9, 10 and 12 and one at the Manchester Evening News Arena November 17.

Seriously guys, it's great that he pays attention to the littles and still books excellent shows despite that, but he's human, a shitty gambler, and most importantly for your sanity and mine…unable to spontaneously teleport to 9th & V any and every band that pops up on your ipod playlist.

Some people are rationale, see that a band is on tour and playing within a reasonable distance, and they put it out there that it would be nice to have them at the club (my guess, since it's his full time job he already knows that and if it makes sense is already working on it). But some (Sweety, xxxPD,) attribute superhuman abilities to the poor guy whilst ironically encouraging career suicide by asking him to book acts so obscure that offering free admission AND free beer wouldn't fill the club.

I'm not saying the bands being requested aren't good, or wouldn't be great to see at the club, but so would free admission and beer…all things that common sense say isn't going to happen.

Ok, sleep deprived tantrum is over.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming…..

Seth could you raise Johnny Allen Hendrix, James Douglas Morrison, and John Henry Bonham from the dead to form a Placebo cover band, and have them play a one-off at the club for board members only?

This is the Koop as in the Swedish jazzy/electronic duo, right? The one on !K7? There's another band with the same name.

930 santa could have qotsa on the 13 and 14, which is an easy sellout, rest day for the staph on the 15, and thievery corp the 16, 17, 18, and 19, all of which will sell out.

I'll second this, but we're pushing our luck. We've been fortunate to have a 3 night stint in 05, a 4 night run in 06 (plus VFest), and the Merriweather show this year. I cannot honestly say we NEED Thievery back because we in DC have seen more of them in the last three years then anywhere else (thanks in HUGE part to Seth), but if they do come back, I'll go to every freaking night.

2. get off your frickin high horse. believe it or not, you can be wrong. i think it's great that you share your opposing opinions, but please sell it as such.

3. is there anything wrong in ASKING for a band? seth doesn't book every request that gets posted here, and no one here hates him for his business decisions. give the man some credit for knowing his biznid and being able to filter the signal from the noise. even if a given request isn't economically feasible at the moment, i doubt that he minds *hearing* what people want. the club has been going strong for 25+ years, i doubt a few requests will bring it down. so some fanboy/fangirl asks seth to book their fav hack band - so what?

off to bed myself, admittedly also sleep deprived…

Aren't the out-of-the-question requests jokes most of the time? (see my above post for instance)
