I've swore off wolf trap and their "Im better than anyone else in the world" patrons, not to mention the attitude of the ranger rick wanna bes who are all over the place.

The venue is fair, but i know a lot of places that are far better. Getting in is easy but getting out is a pain in the butt. Every time I have been there, a majority of the crowd acts like spoiled little rich brat kids. The whole nose up in the air bullshit thing is how a lot of them are. Not even there to enjoy the music but rather to be able to go to work the next day and say to everyone else "Oh yeah I was there". Rude, arrogant, and obnoxious are the three words to best describe a huge majority of the patrons at that place. Then the park ranger trainees that are working outside the gates are real douche bags. They act as if their little smoky bear hat and starched uniforms make them the all powerful wizard of Oz.

I have to use their courtesy shuttle because of my mobility issues. I will normally leave a show early so I can avoid the rush of traffic. When I was dropped off at the front gate to go to a show, they told me to return to that spot afterwards and they would take me directly back to my car. So I leave the show a song or two before the break for encore. I ask this dweeb where the courtesy cart will pick me up. He yells at me to sit on the bench and stop bothering him or he will have me arrested. Then he tells me I have to wait until 30 minutes after the show ends so all the cars can get out before they will start taking folks back on the courtesy cart. Its 30 minutes before the scheduled end of the show and they say they donâ??t want the carts caught in traffic. So now for the next 45 minutes I have to sit on a hard bench or stand on concrete (both of which I canâ??t do because of my back). So when I go to explain this to him he threatens to have me arrested again if I do not start walking to my car immediately. I ended up hobbling to my car about 3/4th of a mile away and I fell on the blacktop twice because it was on such an incline. I emailed the venue about all of this when I got home and all I ever heard was a â??we will look into itâ? response.

get a clue.. its a gorgeous national park.. ticket prices are CHEAP… and you can bring a cooler full of beer and food.. AND you can leave anytime you want and go back to your car..

yeah..its the best venue in town.. sorry for your bad experience…i've had nothing but good experiences including with the rangers..

its easy to make fun of park rangers..but its kind of silly…

i don't know how you can beat a night under the stars at wolftrap with a picnic basket and a blanket below you…

sounds to me like your gripes are due to your mobility issues and not the venue..

maybe its not the right venue for you.


but i stand by what i wrote: overall when you consider its a gorgeous national park, they let you bring in food and beer, the prices are subsidized and the sound is great wolftrap can't be beat..

Sounds to me from that story like Wolftrap are a bunch of assholes who don't give a shit about their patrons.


But I digress…

However, his performance at coachella was one of the most brilliant mixes by any DJ I have ever seen. His set was unbelievable.

And please bring MBV to DC!! 2 shows in NYC does not account for a proper east coast tour.

My gripe is with how I am and other are treated there. WT indeed is a very pretty venue, but the patrons and the employees are jerks. The sound is about a 6 on a scale of 1-10 at best. It is a venue built for the rich snob type of the DC area. NOTE: I am sure there are many who do there who do not fall into this category and not all people who ahve money are like this. But there is a huge proportion of patrons of WT there who do. I prefer a venue that is run by people who care about a good show and a safe time for everyone. I have seen people threatened with being ejected for attempting to go to the bathroom at the wrong time. I have seen an instance where the crowd was standing to get into the music except for an extremely drunk couple who proceeded to complain to one of the users. Said usher demanded that the people one row up sit or be ejected. I have seen a group of three hoity toidy types walk through the black top area behind the crowd while in conversation and not paying attention to where they were going. The woman in the group ran into and all sut knocked over a young guy who was actually trying to avoid them and one of the men in the group cussed the kid out and threatened to beat his ass while the staff did nothing. Yeah thats the type of venue I want to be at.

the patrons and people who run wolftrap are not jerks.. just because ratbastard says so don't make it so.. have seen many shows there and people relaxing on the lawn having a picnic are now jerks??? compared to what??? people at the black cat? give me a break..

as far as the sound.. i think ratbastard is showing his ignorance here because wolftrap has incredible acoustics.. its the best outdoor venue in the area BY FAR.. or what?? you prefer nissan or merriweather to wolftrap?

they're jerks for having a shuttle that takes you there from the metro for like 1.50?? i haven't noticed that existing for nissan or merriweather?

so yes its a hey seth thread and it was ratbastard who started this with the asinine comment that wolftrap is a crappy venue… anyone who saw cesaria evora/seu jorge or tony bennett last year or who has ever talked to any of the performers who play there- which i have- such as lyle lovett knows that performers love to play there because the sound is great, the venue is gorgeous and the crowd is very well behaved…

now if someone doesn't like that well thats fine but lets not make idiotic statements ratbastard.

now back to the hey seth.

i mean shit its a friggin national park.. sounds like a pretty cool place to see a show.. next thing you know we'll be writing that red rocks and the gorge blows compared to the velvet lounge. give me a break.

I think we can all agree the 930 club is a great venue..

by the way seth great iron maiden show at merriweather.. at first i was worries the pit might be too packed but it was great..and i'm glad the band still had pyro and got people on stage (i had been told that wouldn't happen but thankfully i learned later i hadn't been selected through the maiden fan club anyways)…also i thought the sound was really good…

hey seth, and twangirl, and anyone else associate with H&LA coming to the club: sincerest, most heart-felt thanks for bringing hercules & love affair to the 930. i've been wanting to see them for some time now, but they only ever seem to play in europe (and twice NYC when i can't make it).
