Before you make another wise crack, remember this: a girl who never existed is dead.

Plagiarist!  Stolen from a Seth Meyers tweet!
there is no plagiary on the internet
now get off the internet, your grandma needs to use the phone
Now THERE'S a girl who existed and is, in fact, dead.

I am surprised this story is getting so much attention as I have never heard of this guy

Me too, seeing as how you are the sole bell weather for all things that get reported on.

I guess the real story is how sloppy journalists are these days.  No one even checked out any of his story and just wrote articles about him in major magazines.

A large part of the reporting on this is definitely reporters who are angered that they were duped.

It is funny to me now to see all of the reporters tear apart Manti's story with all the facts  that show why she obviously doesn't exist when none of them questioned the facts as they were reporting them, my favorite being that she had luekemia, died and he never went to her bed side or her funeral.  They all knew that then, but all they chose to report on was his courageous performance in the game.

I really hope this is just a bad decision by a 21 year old that got out of hand and became lie on top of lie, and I compel any journalist who casts a stone in his direction to take a long hard look in the mirror and ask themselves, what could I have done differently?
I shoulda read the rest of the thread….

I did not expect that I was the only person on this board that followed Seth Myers on twitter, and have seen that joke plastered everywhere in critical takes on the coverage.

The Oprah "suggestion" on the other hand was all Smackie. I don't call it a joke because its not yet out of the realm of possibility.

Stan the Man. Tough day for baseball.
R.I.P. The Mars Volta? Cedric Bixler posted a ton of tweets like this one:

?Thank u 2 all VOLTA fans u deserved more especially after the way u rooted for us on this album. I tried my hardest to keep it going But Bosnian Rainbows was what we all got instead. I can?t sit here and pretend any more. I no longer am a member of Mars Volta. I honestly thank all of you for buying our records and coming to our shows. You guys were a blast to play in front of We could never had done it with out you. My dream was to get us to the point were Jon Theodore and Ikey Owens came back but sadly it?s over?

I know they were a very polarizing band. But I came of age to these guys and their one and only Washington DC show at 9:30 Club in 2003 was one of my favorite concerts ever.
first three albums plus the live one . . . awesome.  moving.  the voice of another world.

latest music . . . not very good.  saw this coming.
Mars Volta are god awful.  I am glad they are dead.

good studio band, painful live act.

Actually I thought the exact opposite.  I did not care for their CDs but really enjoyed the one time I saw them live.
you like the mars volta?  i knew i liked you for good reasons.
Had no idea what I was getting into when I first saw them and I thought they were great. This was right around the time when Francis the Mute came out.

Second time I saw them (at RML) they were just a wall of sound.  Nowhere near as enjoyable as that first show.

First two albums and the live ep are all I ever go back to at this point and even then a lot of stuff gets skipped.
The Devil's Blood 2007-2013

I'm sure not a whole lot of folks on here have heard of them but they were pretty cool and were growing in notoriety. Very sudden break up, as they still had concerts scheduled.
