i can't believe that pile of coded excrement has lasted this long.

if it is so shitty, why do almost 70 percent of all computer users, employ ie as their internet exploring option?

^that's not good logic as 65% of users are total idiots….if that wasn't true I wouldn't have been gainfully employed for the last 2 decades
but, I . . . use it.  the convenience of it being everywhere and accepted ease of use outweighed my needs to explore other options, plus i think chrome sucks.  but, then again, i think widespread panic is good.

Uh, because it comes pre-installed on the computer 90% of them bought?

The ease of use is the exact issue though. You have to use Compatability Mode and add lots of websites to Compatability View lists to get them to work on IE. I'm a Firefox guy, not Chrome.

Um, this is a completely made up statistic and hasn't been true since about 2008 2007.

Today's true stats:

To be fair, the second link in Sweetcell's post lists the DESKTOP share for IE at 57% to Chrome's 24% and 57% is, ostensibly, "almost 70" for Walkie spitballing.

What is scary about those stats

Operating Systems

1 Windows 7  39.28%
2 Android 4 12.62%
3 Windows 8.1  9.07%
4 iOS 8 8.09%
5 Windows XP  7.36%
6 Mac OS X 6.28%
7 iOS 7 3.33%
8 Linux 2.54%
9 Windows 8  2.52%
10 Windows Vista  2.04%

There are 2 % of users still on Vista!

uhmm . . . I still use vista.  im, too lazy to care.  its just a computer; im not fucking it.

I totally set you up for that one. Glad you spiked it home, gurl.
I laugh when I read people blast one browser over another based on such absurd things as security, etc.  Every browser has security issues, the biggest of which is the person operating it.

I use FF solely because I like the look and feel of it and that I can configure it exactly the way I want it.  It renders pages well and is sufficiently fast.

I cannot use Chrome and it horrid interface, the lack of a menu at the top is alone enough to kill it for anyone other than a tablet user. It has a VERY awkward and highly non-intuitive interface.

I despise that scheme that IE uses in the address bar whereas part of the URL is dimmed and the rest is not.  That is very difficult to read.  Supposedly it highlights the actual domain of the address, and as such protects me form myself.  In the end it is just a pain in the ass.

Of course my opinions may be a tad skewed.  I was first in the on line world with a 300 baud acoustic coupler modem running a WWIV BBS.  (Get off my lawn).

(Frank Zappa'a Watermelon In Easter Hay is a good song to uh, well yeah that, to.)
