Dropping Like Flies

Patrick Adams, disco producer/impresario
Kept meaning to post about Patrick Adams, whose name and who he worked with didn’t ring a bell.  But, people I follow on Twitter mentioned his passing several time.

The only record I caught he was involved with I was aware of was Eric B & Rakim’s album Follow The Leader

Correction he worked on all three of Eric B & Rakim’s records as well as Salt-N-Pepper
Full disclosure as a impressable teen in late 70s I fell under the spell of the Disco Sucks movement, even had a Disco Sucks t-shirt that featured three musical figures presumable showing their disapproval.  The only figure I remember for sure on it was Beethoven…

The movement start in Detroit as that's where Steve Dahl was at the time, he being of course later had the infamous Disco Demolition event in Chicago.

At the time my exposure to Disco was really just Saturday Night Fever and not much more, not realizing it was a much wider movement that had be co-opted by the white mainstream which resulted in that movie and the Bee Gees, etc doing disco tunes.

I've now of course come to learn a lot of the Disco Sucks movement was also deeply rooted in Racism and Homophobia, as Disco came via Gay Black clubs, etc.

I mention this of course as this movement really did kill an otherwise vibrant music scene… I on occasion will come across a thoroughly enjoyable complication of Underground Disco to further my exposure to the good stuff…

damn…
It will be challenging to miss Lawrence, Sr. because he was narcissistic. He was incapable of love. Lawrence, Sr.'s passing proves that evil does eventually die, and it marks a time of healing, which will allow his children to get the closure they deserve. Lawrence, Sr. can be remembered for being a father to many, and a dad to none.
