Buddy Miles passes away

Buddy Miles, 60, died Tuesday night in Austin with his family at his side.

He was the drummer and co-founder of the legendary Band of Gypsys with Jimi Hendrix. Miles worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Stevie Wonder, Barry White, David Bowie and George Clinton.

Miles recorded and produced the California Raisins commercials.

A tribute show will be announced shortly and all are welcome to attend.

It baffles me that three months into the year - with 12 people and total of 44 picks in our celebrity detah pool .. NOT ONE PERSON has died on our list. NOT ONE. ugh.

I want my eleven 6-packs of beer plz.

Gary Gygax, Dungeons & Dragons creator, dies

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (AP) – Gary Gygax, who co-created the fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons and helped start the role-playing phenomenon, died Tuesday morning at his home in Lake Geneva. He was 69.

He had been suffering from health problems for several years, including an abdominal aneurysm, said his wife, Gail Gygax.

Gygax and Dave Arneson developed Dungeons & Dragons in 1974 using medieval characters and mythical creatures. The game known for its oddly shaped dice became a hit, particularly among teenage boys, and eventually was turned into video games, books and movies.

I was in one of the earliest graduating classes of techies at Eleanor Roosevelt High (1982). Lotsa classmates played D&D but it never appealed to me.
