Oh man I was really dreading that one. Poor genius had a horrible battle with cancer.
Seymour Stein
Poor guy…to have such an awful song written about you.

I actually like the song, and Stevie Jackson's Tweet sums up what I'd imagine it would be like as a young man daydreaming of a way to get out of Scotland and see the world when you're heartbroken. There are plenty worse songs in B&S's repertoire. "Roy Walker", "The Blues are Still Blue", "Calculating Bimbo".

"Seymour Stein was written by the one band member of B&S who didn’t actually meet him.
I was working in a restaurant that night and feeling blue that my girl had left the city and left me.
Record company men back then, especially those as eminent as Mr Stein, seemed like fantasy figures that could make all your dreams come true,
The song is a silent plea to Seymour to sort out my personal, emotional mess which was actually pretty unrealistic and unreasonable, looking back at it now. Still I wish him well at the song’s end! SJ x"

Are you kidding? It's an absolutely gorgeous song and tugs at my heartstrings every time I hear it. Stevie Jackson is a killer musician and his singing absolutely nails this song.

I feel like this guy was once at a 9:30 bottle share. And now he's dead.

I hate it less than I used to…but it's still no "Lord Anthony" or "My Wandering Days Are Over" or even a "String Bean Jean".

Yup, that's the guy I was thinking of.

He and GGW must be regretting today of all days, up in heaven.

This version Stevie did solo at XPN in 2012 is pretty darn good

Is it good enough that they would be playing it in heaven?
That song is a crime against humanity. Seymour’s death has dredged up traumatic memories.

I guess you have to believe in heaven first for that to work
