He was a heck of a football player, too.  It's been a bad couple of months for old Colts.

Conrad Schnitzler and Joe Yamanaka

Two more musicians who actually did something to change the musical landscape and will not get one mention in the mainstream media.

Oh man R.I.P. Joe. I said it when Dickie Peterson died and I'll say it again….Fuck cancer!

Flower Tavellin' Band at the Velvet Lounge was an amazing experience.
It was honestly a little uneven for me; new stuff was not my bag. The older stuff did play sounded as incredible as ever though.
Former Warrant singer Jani Lane dead at 47
Jani Lane, former lead singer of the hair metal band Warrant, was found dead in a Los Angeles hotel Thursday night, the Los Angeles Times has confirmed. He was 47. The cause of death is unknown and the case has been turned over to the L.A. county coroner?s office.
The blond-maned, leather-clad Lane embodied the glammed-out pop-metal genre of the late ?80s and early ?90s. As frontman of Warrant, he wrote the band?s hits ?Heaven,? ?Down Boys,? and ?Cherry Pie.?  He left the band in 1992, but rejoined (and quit again) several times since.
Lane was also on an edition of Celebrity Fit Club in 2005 and had a few small acting roles as well.
In 2009, he was arrested for allegedly crashing into a parked car and put on probation after pleading no contest to a DUI charge. He pleaded no contest to a similar charge again in 2010 and served 120 days in jail.

I love that description: "Philly cheesesteak shop owner who told customers to order in English dies".

What was the one for Nick Ashford?: "Tall African-American Male who sang 'Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)' at Live Aid…no….not the one in the wheelchair…the other one…dies."

or

Elizabeth Taylor: "Actress who got paid a crapload of coin to play "Cleopatra" and then took up hobby of eating fried chicken dies."

I refuse to be goaded into such nonsense.  Yes, since he simply asked for customers to make the effort to learn the language of the country they made a living in, he was worse than Hitler.  Unfortunately, he was taken from us before he could start the ethnic cleansing of South Philly.  ::)

did you even read the article?  it highlights how the "must order in English" sign was one small symptom of his bigotry.  it also pointed out the irony of this grandson of immigrants (who never mastered english themselves) and an italian (a group that has known more than it's share of discrimination) would go out of his way to beat down another immigrant group.

but thanks for bringing hitler into this.

p.s. south philly doesn't need ethnic cleansing - a good shower would do.

Yes.  I did read the article.  I'm not getting into this.  I know the facts.  I'm not some hysterical reactionary who tsks-tsks others and acts morally superior to everyone else to cover up obvious inadequacies.  "Beat down."  Yes.  Obviously he was "beating down" another immigrant group.  With bats and hoses and everything.

Have a nice day.
