Dropping Like Flies

I do. Ten minute drive to the Metro. Long term parking at Metro for $4.75 for as long as I want (free if i come home on a weekend). Then 20 minute Metro ride to National.

Definitely beats a 40 min drive and $10/day parking at Dulles and then waiting in the parking lot for a shuttle to come by and pick you up.

I think the better question is "Why would anyone choose Dulles over National?"

Does anyone even fly out of National?
I was just trying to point out there are many, many things named after Reagan.
National is by far my preferred airport… Dulles blows.

Scottish musician Twitter is unreal right now. Never seen such an outpouring of glee for the death of somebody.

Margaret Thatcher and misapplied death etiquette

There's something distinctively creepy - in a Roman sort of way - about this mandated ritual that our political leaders must be heralded and consecrated as saints upon death. This is accomplished by this baseless moral precept that it is gauche or worse to balance the gushing praise for them upon death with valid criticisms. There is absolutely nothing wrong with loathing Margaret Thatcher or any other person with political influence and power based upon perceived bad acts, and that doesn't change simply because they die. If anything, it becomes more compelling to commemorate those bad acts upon death as the only antidote against a society erecting a false and jingoistically self-serving history.

Yay somebody else here reads Glenn Greenwald.
She was a saucy minx.

Hey Beav,

…. Lumpy Rutherford.
Pat Summerall.  Unlike the shouters of today, he was smooth, elegant and understated.
Scott Warren Miller
this one really hurts -  genius yet one of the most under appreciated pop song writers out there.  And he was only two years older than me

Scott Miller  - Loud Family / Game Theory

Evan Funk Davies is playing a bunch of Loud Family and Game Theory right now on FMU: http://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/50290

Kosmo, I think this show should be up your alley anyway.
This is great stuff. Only heard a song or two in passing before tonight. Going on until midnight.
there is a dropbox link so people can download the out of print game theory records on  http://www.loudfamily.com/ ; but right now as expected it's been disabled due to popularity.  I've got most of the loud family records and "lolita nation" on CD, so that's what I'll be listening to today.  The last Loud Family  "what if it works" is one of my all time favorite albums…

In the spirit of giving, I've uploaded both of my Game Theory CDs to Dropbox in ALAC:

Real Nighttime

The Big Shot Chronicles

Dropbox's bandwidth limit is 20GB per day. The two folders are 647MB so there won't be many of you who can download them. I'll send the links to loudfamily.com in a day or so.
I was listening to Lolita Nation today and remembered why I like that album so much, Scott and co had a knack for being arty with going overboard.  If I get a chance I'll rip it into FLAC over the weekend.  People are asking close to $100 for that CD.  And yes we should start another thread for Scott Miller discussion.. d

They really should put them up on Bandcamp…
