Dropping Like Flies

No more hot licks for Dan Hicks
Bill, the bassist of grindcore band Chainsaw to The Face.

They were really good at Maryland Death Fest last year. R.I.P.
Sirius satellite radio station, outq.  The only radio station dedicated to gay people is being taken off the air; hosts who have been doing this for 10 to 15 years, fired.  Being replaced by a music channel.  I guess since Stern demanded more money for 5 more years, the money had to come from somewhere.  Guess, I had sirius long enough.

what kind of content did this "gay station" carry?
it was mainly talk radio . . . there was a morning show that was part music, part pop culture and celebrity interviews, part great host sharing life stories.  there was a political show.  there was a comedian like show, from a guy who was on the daily show once, which was crazy and felt like a updated laugh in.  there was a business show.  there was a sports show.  there was a night time, raunchier show that dealt with sex, porn stars, comedy, drag queens, late night stuff.  and not everything was gay gay gay, 24 hours a day.  they covered the straight world too.

All in all, for gay people, it was a one of a kind, offered nowhere else, kind of programming.

and this is why I am confident that it will resurface somewhere else. We  won't stand for it.

"look Michael, look at what the gays have done to me"

I got to agree here knowing nothing about it, but in todays self publishing world, it's somewhat easy to get out there, especially if you have a big rabid fan base

If the crew stays together and connects with their fan base, they will follow….look at Stern as a perfect example

Only loss would be the platform of satellite radio, but with people streaming on their phones now, that is going to be a thing of the past.  I've got my phone connected via Bluetooth in my car…and the world is my kumamoto

somewhat on topic…

I've really been enjoying Alec Baldwin's Podcast Here's the thing (BTW I'm not shafting NPR as they are producing it)

But he had a great exchange about modern sexuality and his daughter of all people

Alec Baldwin: People who I work with who are young who shall remain nameless who are listening to this recording right now, they will talk about how people are on a spectrum.

Amy Schumer: Of sexuality?

Alec Baldwin: Yeah, where you don?t sleep with?as my daughter said to me, because she had a girlfriend for a while, and she said to me, ?You don?t sleep with a man or a woman?you sleep with the person. I?m attracted to that person.? So she slept with somebody who was a woman. And I was like, ?Wow.? I?ve met men as much as I loved anybody in my life, but I wasn?t built that way so I think to myself, ?That doesn?t interest me.? I?d rather be with a woman that I want to set on fire and throw off a cliff than be with a guy who was the greatest human being I?ve ever met, who is like Abraham Lincoln meets Montgomery Clift.

Amy Schumer: Oh my god, seriously, you wouldn?t even let Lincoln blow you?

sadly alec would deny Abe, but great insight

I just thought he was making a joke at the fact my old name is always on the first page because of some threads, with that comment.  even, I am annoyed at that fact about my old name.

I sincerely hope NPR does not actually produce it and you know that and are just trying to get Relaxer to lose his shit. My respect for your boarding game would be at an all-time high if that's the case.

im still, too emotional to show such affections.  I hate the, I want to get rid of some product because they do something or change something that infuriates me, especially if I am paying for the service, but also I love the service because it offers a variety of cool things.
