Paying taxes sucks
Michael Landrum isn't the greatest businessman.  The "Ray's" parent company has filed for bankruptcy – twice.  You would be hard pressed to find a Ray's franchise that hasn't had a major dispute with its landlords.  The food tends to be great, but the business side of those operations is a mess.

It closed because they weren't paying their rent.

I remember in my youth I had no idea who this person was
and The Young Ones had a reference to him in an episode and asked my dad about why a banister would think 5 minutes was a big deal
