Dropping Like Flies

I had a friend who went to Cuba recently. He asked his mom, who also went there a few years ago, what he should bring with him in his trip. She said "food". Once in La Habana, he gave some canned food and a sort of kool aid to a family he met, and he was struck when he saw this family making a very watered down kool aid, so they could make it "last longer".

I don't pretend to have a unbiased view of the world, and when my friend told me this story, I thought well, it figures. My friend was pretty disappointed with the "revolution". Fidel is the revolution. Hopefully it will die soon with him.

Saw that this morning, pretty sad.  Me and all my dorky little friends LOVED that band in the mid 80's.  They put out some pretty good tunes.

I always enjoy, that feeling that you get when somebody famous passes away, as if you were a part of their extended family who feels the same kind of sadness as if you knew them personally.
