So is it correct to say he wrote the music and Hal David the lyrics to most of his 60s hit songs?

i am here to correct you: unfortunately, we still have shel silverstein.  "the giving tree" has caused more trauma among youth than all the drunk cheek-pinching uncles put together.

fun silverstein fact: he wrote "a boy named sue."  still doesn't make up for "the giving tree", tho.

Last time I read the Giving Tree I was bawling mid way…. That was a couple of years ago

What a horrible book

I wish Shel was alive so I could ask him WTF
