Dropping Like Flies

poet/founder of Citylights bookstore in SF
publishing poetry, offbeat and radical books by the likes of Kerouac, Ginsberg, Paul Bowles, Gary Snyder and Gregory Corso.
I remember first encountering Lawrence Ferlinghetti's work via the bit he has in The Last Waltz. As a naive 21 year old, I thought it was some kind of weird joke and he reminded me of Father Guido Sarducci. I haven't watched the film in a few years (tried to convince my wife that we should watch it as a "Thanksgiving move", she declined), his piece is definitely more memorable than Neil Diamond's section.

I met him briefly after his show at the Howard
the Jamaican band in the sky now has quite a rooster, lost so many in the last year or so
Well the Wailers are together again if you believe in that sort of thing

They really were like brothers and their three voices singing together..very special

I believe Bob and Bunny lived together as kids
