Sorry Space
Dropping Like Flies
Aw, man…sorry to hear that, Space. I loved seeing pics of your pup here and there.
We lost our dog last summer…16 years old and we owned her that entire time. That's never easy.

admittedly it's been a while, but back in the day the sweetcell clan and the space clan occasionally hung out together. i've been to the space casa maybe 4 or 5 times? they were over at ours a similar amount. so yeah, i met theo a number of times - and every time, he was a good boy. i'll leave it up to you to decide whether a half-dozen or so encounters is sufficient to make a definitive determination of good-boyness.
We are fast approaching page 666 :-\

i'm likely next to join the club: my best friend's breed has a typical lifespan of 11-13 years… and she's about to turn 12. she's gone deaf, has really slowed down, she struggles to hop into the trunk (gonna need a ramp soon), we can't bring her on adventures (like camping) anymore, etc. i'm making the most of the time i have left with her…

sorry man… no different than human getting a death sentence, but my dog went from a perfectly fine 11 year old dog that really had minimal issues his whole life to a death sentence of any minute to six months… He made it four. I don't think I left his side for more than a few hours during that whole span. :'( :'( :'(
My pup went so quickly it was crazy…she looked every day of her 16 years, but until the last two months, was her normal self. Seemed so long at the time, as I was sleeping in the basement with her so she didn't fall down the steps, etc.
But even crazier was the relapses back to health. We had two or three separate decisions that her end was near and were scheduling her final vet visit, only for her to wake up seemingly 100% the morning of. Brutal whirlwind as I think I had to make peace with things all over again, but having her back briefly was so nice. She ultimately passed away in our backyard, right next to me as she kind of just faded away. It was really beautiful…not in pain or suffering as near as I could tell, and I was with her to the end.
Now resetting the "Number of days since your cried about your dead dog" back to zero.

There's a dead civilians and baby thread over >>>>
Just to clarify, outside of my dog somehow being a Highlander and living forever, I wouldn't have traded how her last days went for anything. She ate steak for every meal until she no longer was eating. She got to go to the beach for one last great trip. She died peacefully in her own home with my right by her side, petting her as she drifted off. Anyone would be lucky to have such a graceful exit
