sadly had no idea who his name was, but his contribution to janes and all of alternative music owes a lot of debt
they were kind of a mess as humans at that time and the production of that album is IMO one of the best
yes it's polished, but I don't think it would have been as accessible if it wasn't
I believe that album was a tipping point in music
Nothing's Shocking is one of my all time favorite albums, like top 10 for sure, and I pretty much hate everything else Perry Farrell has done.

Guess I'm just saying I'm agreeing with whatever props you are giving it.

couldn't agree more
Ritual is decent, but not even in top 250 albums for me, where as NS (and the live album) are definitely top 25 for me
all his solo and other janes work is just meh
What a run Dave Jerden had ….

1980: Remain in Light - Talking Heads (engineer, mixing)
1981: My Life in the Bush of Ghosts - David Byrne/Brian Eno (engineer)
1983: Future Shock - Herbie Hancock (engineer, mixing)
1984: The Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Red Hot Chili Peppers (engineer)
1988: Nothing's Shocking - Jane's Addiction
1989: Mother's Milk - Red Hot Chili Peppers (mixing)
1990: Social Distortion - Social Distortion
1990: Ritual de lo Habitual - Jane's Addiction
1990: Facelift - Alice In Chains
1991: The Reality of My Surroundings - Fishbone
1992: Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell - Social Distortion
1992: Dirt - Alice in Chains
Some of my most favorite albums are on that list that Eno/Byrne album is a legit desert island album and definitely those two SxDX albums

At least we still have…

Wait. Is Tim Robbins still alive?

Still Life with Woodpecker hit me hard for some reason.
I don't even remember the story
but just a feeling of getting up to the top of a ridge and seeing a whole new valley
don't think I read any of his others
