Dropping Like Flies
the internet killed the musical star. then it killed the hard working vhs video store owner. next it will kill the movie industry and television hollywood equation in one final swoop . . . but not before it kills little babies. die, non electronic toy, die.

Mark Linkous
Shit…
God i find myself being really really bummed about Mark Linkous. Both as a huge huge fan, and a former Richmonder with many friends who have lost a friend.
This Linkous thing has really bummed me out too. Such a talent.
I walked by the studio in Richmond where he recorded some of Vivadixie today. Chilling.

Yeah I pulled out my auto'd copy of Vivadixie earlier and it made me sad. I remember running into him at a Food Lion when I was like 19 and thinking it was the coolest thing ever that someone that talented lived near me. :(
I hope that 5th album that was "almost completed" comes out in some form a la In A Basement On A Hill.

He was recording it with Steve Albini. Should be very interesting to hear.
Musician's deaths don't usually hit me like this. But Sparklehorse was a top 5 band for me. I've been listening to Good Morning Spider a lot since I found out, and Happy Man is a pretty powerful song right now.

So they are saying he shot himself in the chest after getting upset over a text message

He wasn't in a wheelchair but i think he had to wear braces on his legs.

While on tour in 1996, Mr. Linkous collapsed in a hotel room after taking Valium and antidepressants. He briefly went into cardiac arrest before being revived, and he sustained injuries to his legs that put him in a wheelchair for six months. His legs never fully recovered their strength. His convalescence inspired ?St. Mary,? a song on his second album named after the hospital where he recuperated. ?Come on boys,? he sings, ?please let me taste the clean air in my lungs.?

LA times and Billboard obits both mentioned leg braces, but really who cares…RIP.
don't you guys find it odd that all these people in the famous world are offing themselves?

Corey Haim
Texts From This Morning:
Smackette: Lost Boy Down…
Smackie: Haim or Feldman?
Smackette: Haim.
Smackie: Suicide?
Smackette: I was assuming OD….
Smackie: Just checked TMZ. 4 prescriptions bottles found by his body. I'm going with both.
Smackette: Can't say I'm surprised
Smackie: 15 yrs ago I would have been surprised it was Haim and not Feldman but not today.
Smackette: Yeah
Smackie: At least he banged Nicole Eggert before going out - he's go that going for him…
Smackette: But it was pre-boob job. Not sure it still counts
Smackie: Touche
How terrible is it that when I heard of Corey Haim's passing, in my mind I visualized Feldman. Never could keep those two straight.
We need more recaps of conversations between Smackie and Mrs. Smackie and less between Rhett and Celeste.
how can you say that? i'm informed that celeste is as attractive as smackette. don't hate on the beautiful.
