that's a bummer, but always thought of Pauline Black as the lead

he’s been more identified as the frontman of the group, so shared vocals with Pauline would be more appropriate.  He was up until recently still active with the group.  I quite enjoyed their 2015 album Subculture

I think we should argue about who the lead singer of the Selector was. Do we need a new thread?
Françoise Hardy
Sadly, we no longer have Laurelen Hardy
Definitely Pauline!! No f doubt
The Selecter featured a diverse line-up, both in terms of race and gender, initially consisting of Arthur 'Gaps' Hendrickson and Pauline Black on lead vocals, Neol Davies and Compton Amanor on guitar, Desmond Brown on Hammond organ, Charley 'Aitch' Bembridge on drums, and Charley Anderson on bass. The band's name comes from the original "The Selecter" track, which appeared on the flip side of The Special AKA's "Gangsters" single in 1979, and was written by Neol Davies and John Bradbury, produced by Roger Lomas and featured Barry Jones on trombone.

I had not realized he was sick. Pancreatic cancer.

obligatory "fuck cancer", but especially pancreatic.  rarely detected before it's in the final stages.  typical report from a doctor: "well, we've finally figure out why you've been so sick recently, and unfortunately it's because of pancreatic cancer… we estimate you have [X] weeks left to live."  had a close family friend succumb to it, he went really fast after the diagnosis.

Willie Mays, Donald Sutherland, and (not really) Noam Chomsky makes for one of the more prolific Real of 3 trios we’ve had in a bit.

We were just having a vacation family debate about his death status just two days ago. I hope we didn't cause it.
