Charles Entenmann, who helped bring baked goods to supermarkets, dies at 92

I remember on Long Island, we had a game against a team who’s school was right next to their facility… got off the buss and it smelled like chocolate chip cookies

We used to crush some boxes of these weekly at baby-hatch’s home
They should bury him on an endcap at the front of the snack aisle.

damn that sucks.  They had some legendary shows.  I love Juda and sad to hear he's sick

I just remember being blown away at their show at the old 9:30 back in 95 I think
forgot they did the NYE show in 96, I tend to avoid NYE shows, but that's one I wish I caught

While it wouldn't be the same with out the JBBX crew, it seems criminal that he won't play any of that catalog live anymore either
Last two JSBX shows (Cat and Ust…damn, just confirmed…only shows in DC since 96!)
all he did was play snippets  of the 'Hits', so feel like it had been over a decade if not more since a proper blues explosion show

anyone catch them in 95 at the Patriot center opening for the Roots/Beastie boys?
Hmm… I know I saw JSBX at the old and current 930…I want to say the NYE show

Their post hiatus shows at the Jefferson Theater in Cville and Ottobar were my favorites… the Black cat show hardly counts as we were late… U Street Hall was good…

There’s a lot to unpack… why was JSBX treated as a joke? I mean they had a schtick but so do the White Stripes which always seem to claim they come from Flat Duo Jets but weren’t Blues Explosion doing something similar? They never get credited as having any influence on the garage rock revival… and if their schtick was their problem why has it never been an issue for Beck…why is Beck cool for badly imitating Prince and the JSBX uncool for imitating Elvis and the blues …maybe it’s cause they were perceived to be white guys joking about black music?

Then there is the whole DC thing… there was some sort of Pussy Galore vs Dischord thing going on and I think that was a problem

The wheels just fell off with Plastic Fang for whatever reason…they never recovered.. I actually think it’s their Exile on Main Street album in its LP incarnation with four more songs…it’s produced by Steve Jordan currently Stones drummer (and Wino) and like Exile even has a Dr John appearance
