Actor Allan Melvin, best known to "Brady Bunch" fans as Sam the Butcher, boyfriend of Alice – has gone to the big meat market in the sky.

Melvin died in Los Angeles on Thursday at age 84. His starred in old school hits like "The Phil Silvers Show" and "All in the Family" – but will best be remembered as Ann B. Davis's meat makin' hottie.

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ¯ Suzanne Pleshette, the beautiful, husky-voiced film and theater star best known for her role as Bob Newhart's sardonic wife on television's
long-running "The Bob Newhart Show," has died, said her attorney Robert Finkelstein. She was 70.

Pleshette, who underwent chemotherapy for lung cancer in 2006, died of respiratory failure Saturday evening at her Los Angeles home, said Finkelstein, who
is also a family friend.

"The Bob Newhart Show," a hit throughout its six-year run, starred comedian Newhart as a Chicago psychiatrist surrounded by eccentric patients. Pleshette

I just saw that - I'm totally bummed. One of my all-time favorites - to me he's one of those artists from your childhood that you carry with you forever. My folks used to play John Stewart cassette tapes when we were driving the motorhome across the country every summer. I believe, even today, he ranks 28 on my last.fm chart.
