This week rollcall

They are one of those bands who I could see being enjoyable only if you're familiar with their material.

Re: the new album, it's the first that rehashes ideas from albums past and does not take a completely different turn which disappointed me a bit. Still pretty good, though.

come on tues . . . can hardly wait.  nine days with widespread panic equals too much fun for my overflowing plate.

Thursday: Phoenix on MTV Unplugged
This was awesome, even though it was a TV taping and they only played 6 songs, and most of them twice at that. The band members couldn't have been nicer afterwards, and I got a picture with Sofia Coppola!!
best show so far this year…they played as a five-piece. Last time I saw them was in 2000(!) when they opened for JSBX (YYYs also on the bill).

here's a link to the NYC show: http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2010/04/liars_fol_chen.html

I've only seen liars once, when they opened for radiohead in camden in 2008, and frankly they blew chunks. Would have left if I could, but didn't want to lose my spot so I had to endure. Hopefully they've gotten better. Or maybe I caught them on one of their bad nights.

that's a shame. the three times i've seen them i was more then impressed, especially during their 2006(?) set at the blackcat which blew me away. their sound doesn't necessarily lend well to big pavilions but they still managed to grab the audiences attention at nissan and imo, they were great but to each his own.  i'm still bummed out i missed their last show at the 9:30 club due to the ice storm. i only could imagine how they would've sounded on that stage :(

and i decided not to go tonight due to rnrh shitty pa.
Passing on Widespread..even free tickets aren't good enough.. i have seen them too man times.. I know better

Wed Outer Body Llama  Chief Ikes
Thur Elvis Costello Warner
Friday Cowboy Junkies State Theatre
Thermals / Past Lives tonite at Ottobar
Quasi on Saturday

PS – Anyone have an extra to the Echo & the Bunnymen show next Friday?
so sad - had tix for Bad Lieutenant on Wed. but no longer happening.

Volunteering at Tribeca Film Fest from Wed onwards.
Disco Biscuits  :P
i'll be the only non hippy in the crowd. ha ha
No you won't. ;)

-Sara Watkins possibly tonight
-Jakob Dylan Friday
-maybe the festival Sunday if I can manage to get down there amiss the crowd
-wanted to go to Frightened Rabbit, but sold out (only one time did we try and find tickets [outside the venue] to a sold out show at BC - how hard is it these days?)

Anyone headed downtown Sunday for the Earth Day Festival? (I tried to find where the original post began / the son of a commentary thread to ask questions…) Any chance set times for each artist is available somewhere? I check around, didn't see anything.

Vampire Weekend with Abe Vigoda tonight.

Assuming I can decide which argyle sweater and scarf to wear.
