Agreed and why the club wasn't packed, like it would be for say Duffy ::), is beyond me.  More need to go out and  see the real deal verses some overhyped wannabie

yup!  I'll see the effects of that tonight at the Tricky show in Baltimore…we'll see if they can break 50.
Really enjoyed her set as well  :P

ixkpd-bk enjoy that Rem tribute! I would like to know what the feelies do, in hopes of having them repeat the songs on Saturday

Here was the setlist for the tribute:

The dB?s ? "Fall On Me"
Fink ? "The Apologist"
Keren Ann ? "Man On The Moon"
Calexico ? "Wendell Gee"
Rachael Yamagata ? "The Great Beyond"
Bob Mould ? "Sitting Still"
The Feelies ? "Carnival Of Sorts (Boxcars)"
Ingrid Michaelson ? "Nightswimming"
Glen Hansard ? "Hairshirt"
The Apples In Stereo ? "So. Central Rain"
Guster ? "Shaking Through?
Marshall Crenshaw ? "Supernatural Superserious"
Rhett Miller ? "Driver 8"
Kimya Dawson ? "World Leader Pretend"
Vic Chesnutt And Elf Power ? "Everybody Hurts"
Kristin Hersh And Throwing Muses ? "Perfect Circle"
Dar Williams ? "At My Most Beautiful"
Jolie Holland ? "(Don?t Go Back To) Rockville" (featuring Kyp Malone of TV On The Radio)
Darius Rucker (from Hootie and the Blowfish) ? "I Believe"
Patti Smith ? "New Test Leper"
R.E.M. ? "E-Bow The Letter" (featuring Patti Smith)

They did E-Bow, my favorite REM song, and owned it.

Highlights:

-Patti Smith doing "New Test Leper".
-Ingrid Michaelson doing "Nightswimming" (SUCH a surprise, she blew just about everyone away)
-Vic Chesnutt and Elf Power doing "Everybody Hurts"
-Apples in Stereo doing "So. Central Rain"
-Glen Hansard doing "Hairshirt" (TOTALLY random.)

Disappointments:

-Kimya. Fucking. Dawson. (Way to ruin one of my favs, bitch. NO one needed floor xylophonists or circus dancers or your gold diaper/globe dress.)
-Jolie Holland
-Marshall Crenshaw
-Keren Ann

Overall, the song choices were super random. A lot of fan favorites and album tracks were chosen over obvious singles, and I appreciated that. Some reinterpretations worked ("Nightswimming", "At My Most Beautiful", "Everybody Hurts"), and some just didn't ("Supernatural Superserious", "Man on the Moon"). Nobody should fuck with Man on the Moon, imho. But whatever.
Thanks for the set list. How was boxcars?  The sitting still must have been sweet.
Tickets.com just coughed up a single ticket for tonight's Modest Mouse show.

Wow, I would have loved to have seen that!
Today, 3/14, is Pi Day. Appropriately enough, I will be seeing the godfathers of nerd rock, The Feelies.
Saw Fleetwood Mac last night in Uncasville, CT. It was…good-ish. Stevie Nicks looked asleep during most of the show and Lindsay Buckingham's guitar solos were 5 minutes too long. They did do Storms off of Tusk, which RULED.

Tonight - A.C. Newman @ Bowery Ballroom
Tues-Sun - SXSW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

can you give us a report before you go down to austin?  i'm looking forward to his show at black cat on wednesday
OK…I'll recount it while its still fresh in my head.

I might be out of order on some of these, but…

There Are Maybe Ten or Twelve
Miracle Drug
The Heartbreak Rides
Prophets
Secretarial
Like a Hitman, Like a Dancer
The Palace at 4am
All of My Days and All of My Days Off
Cloud Prayer
Young Atlantis
Drink to Me, Babe, Then
The Collected Works
Changeling (Get Guilty)
Submarines of Stockholm
On the Table

There Is a War (Leonard Cohen cover)
Town Halo

I wish he did "Thunderbolts", especially since he had Nicole Atkins there (!!!), but it was still a pretty damn great show. I'm not a fan of Dent May and his Magnificent Ukelele though. Too much for me. There was no New Pornos stuff, and it was good that way. I'd definitely do more of his shows if the timing was better. He soundchecked "Most of Us Prizefighters" and a cover of "Love Goes On", but didn't perform those two last night.
