Thought you would be at APTBS too.
I totally forgot about that Swervedriver date. Its happening at RNRH makes the decision to skip it and see Janel and Anthony a lot easier.

I would do APTBS if the tickets were a little cheaper (i know they arent THAT expensive, but if they were headlining the tickets would probably be half what they are) and if they were headlining.

The Joy Formidable/APTBS tonight (although for some reason I was thinking it was The Pains of Being Pure at Heart opening. I've been listening to them all weekend. oops! I like APTBS better anyway…)
Caps Tue/Sat

If anyone is debating between the DC9 and Golden West Alcest shows, maybe the start times will help with this. I was originally going to do the Weds show, so I could have a day between Alcest and Swervedriver, but then i saw start times.
Weds Golden West:
10:00pm until 1:00am
DC9 on Thurs:
ARØBRØS: 7:30 pm BLCK CLDS: 8:15 pm DF HVN: 9:00 pm ÅLCST: 10:00 pm

Yeah but unless I can get off of work on Thursday, the midnight start time for Alcest is going to kick my ass. (though I guess I can just go into work extra late on Thurs)
Plus, I do love Arboretum, but I have yet to see Auroboros or Black Clouds.

Were you able to make it? You were right, the sound was pretty good in there. My only complaint about the whole night was the vocals on Deafheaven. Almost too unbearably loud/shrill… Alcest were amazing, very beautiful and loud and fuzzy, and only one song with demon growls. I left around 1:40, so I hope I didnt miss too many songs.
And now, on to Swervedriver.

Filming back to back Van shows (Van Hunt and Van Halen) wore my ass out, still debating Alcest tonight and Swervedriver tomorrow.

Yes, I thought Deafheaven were the highlight of the night! very punishing set! I actually loved the sharp, vicious vocals… :P
Alcest were good but I wish the set was more varied (more metal and less shoegazy..or equal). Also wish it was a little louder…

I would have loved Deafheaven more if i hadnt lost a filter to one of my earplugs and am waiting on a new one. That -25 db cut would have been nice.
i was surprised and pleased at the amount of shoegaze.
Also, the crowd was definitely a mixed bag. Metal fans in their black t shirts, and shoegaze fans in their whatever t shirts (mine was the white sushi shirt Ringo Deathstarr just put out).
Also, I guess I do not know what you look like.

Oh, it was more shoegaze? Good to hear. Plus the fact that if set times are to be believed, tonight should end at roughly 11:30. Four bands might be a little much to stand through after six noise acts last night though.
Yeah too beat to stand through four bands tonight. Plus the DC9 factor makes it less appealing.
