I'll be at Roky Erickson at the Ottobar on Sunday. I've been a fan forever and have never seen him. Hoping to be surprised but not getting my hopes up too high.

He was excellent when I saw him at the Black Cat in 2010– played almost all old stuff (only a couple of songs from his album with Okkervil River).  I reviewed the show for the Wash Post Express; if you want to read that, it's here.

Gary Clark JR sounds familar because Gary Clark played for the redskins.
Gary Clark / Gary Clark Jr reminds me of the time in 2002-ish when the David Cross show at the Black Cat sold out way in advance, and I couldn't figure out why everyone was going nuts over the violinist from King Crimson.

Whoops.

That could also be what it is. Regardless, if anyone has an extra ticket I'm more than happy to take if off their hands!
Loved him when he was on Hee Haw with Buck Owens.

Seriously, dream pop fans on this board have slept on Cigarette too long.
One of the better current local bands.
Couple tracks here.

They had the full LP up but took it down for some unknown reason.

Similar experience several years ago. Tim Gunn was speaking at the UM student union and I wondered why the long line for Crimson's second bassist (Trey Gunn).
Forgot about the rest of my week.

Mark Fossen Friday at the Dollhouse
Magnetic Fields Sunday at Sixth and I

Have you been to that space before?
Nope. It is a bunch of studios from what I understand; some of which have artists living in them.

sounds . . . god awful.  as in, my ex girlfriend left me to start a "noise commune" on campus, awful.
