This week rollcall

I know…it was only $25 in San Diego. The cost is the one reason why I haven't bought a ticket yet. I'm wondering if I can get one for under face value outside the venue.
lots of scalpers eating their tickets on ebay….check it out

Unsure about anything else for this week.

Three straight shows at Velvet; been a while since I did that.

how were the first two velvet shows?
I didn't care much for Last Tide or Impossible Hair and Capstan Shafts' set was plagued with tech problems. So that one was pretty much a wash. Last night was a fun time. Shirks were great as always. I'd been hearing good things about Maybe Baby for ever and they didn't disappoint. Beasts of No Nation got a couple nice little pits going which is easier said than done in DC. The Zeros played everything everyone wanted to hear and did it well.

word. i've seen shafts a few times this year and it's not always so smooth. great record, though. the shirks are probably the best band in town right now, yeah?
They are up there. I like Bodycop a lot, too. It's also a good time to be a fan of experimental/ambient stuff living in this area.

Edit; this article reminded me of Salome's greatness. One of my better discoveries of '09.
Wed: Blonde Redhead @ Webster Hall
Fri: Dandy Warhols @ The Bell House
Sat: Dandy Warhols @ Webster Hall

good call on bodycop.

i may check out future islands at black cat on thursday, perhaps some others, not sure. it's cold.
azaghal is a hater of future islands…
I've still not yet completely ruled out this.
Cloud Cult tonight, Future Islands later this week.
how was cloud cult?  work prevented me from making it to the show (or having to decide between this and frightened rabbit…)

anyone here make it to moogfest?  thoughts?  spin has a lil' write up here: http://www.spin.com/articles/10-best-moments-moogfest-celebration
Anyone go to Cloud Cult last night?
edit: ha - whoops! great minds…
Fort Wilson Riot were good openers.  Cloud Cult kicked ass like always.  Not a lot of people came out.The Black Cat was not packed, less than half full.  But they did their thing.  Had both painters on stage, but this time they would spin their canvases while painting.  It created some interesting effects.  The hour long set was about half Light Chasers tunes, and half oldies.  I cant remember all they played, but they definitely played a few of my favorites.  The sound was great too.  I think they might have brought a sound guy, or they just happened to know/thank him by name.  All in all well worth 16 bucks.
The band (minus the new keyboardist)

Keyboard/horn player

Connies painting

Scotts

I went to MoogFest, it was fucking awesome! I'll have write-ups and pics of each night on WLDC over the next three days.

Anyone hitting Interpol tonight? I'll be checking them out. Keeping my expectations low.
Found a good ticket for a decent price for Interpol. Don't worry, it's a really solid show. I know that the new record their weakest LP yet, but it really doesn't suck as bad as everyone says. I thought the same about Our Love to Admire. The only song they play from that one is "Rest My Chemistry", which sounds pretty epic. It'll be a good show.
Cool. I mean they used to kill live, so good to hear!
