Got a chance to DJ the Michael kiwanuka show. Impressed with the opener Kat Edmonson
This week rollcall
Beautiful Alasdair Roberts set. Great mix of original songs and traditionals. Site note: What is it with English/Irish/Scottish folk songs and murder usually of women or children?
Roberts showed up to do an encore with Bonnie "Prince" Billy and company at Sixth and I.

wtf is mothership? This also explains why it's been over 13 years since my last Phish show.
K8teebug, I get the sense you had an ex that dragged (drugged) you to multiple Phish shows in the 90's and now you resent them. Amirite?
And the Mothership is Hampton Coliseum which as far as I know has been called that since back when the Dead used to melt the place down. I could be wrong.
I have never heard that! Makes sense.
No, I really really liked them. Went to the Great Went. I just associate them with college and got older and wasn't really into the whole scene as much any more….

Understood… there was a big chunk of the 00's that I lost interest but then I realized there isn't a band out there that puts on a show like them.

This was the most amazing show. I went into it not thinking "God I hope Oldham plays X, Y and Z" but rather "Let's see what he comes up with." It helps that I just read his book, which expounds at great length on his theories of making music. But I was completely in to every minute of this.
And let me tell you, when the openers came on – two guys with acoustic guitars – my heart and my boner just sank like a stone. But then midway through the first song, I thought "Wow, this sounds pretty good" and by the end of it, I was absolutely sold. I usually hate soft, delicate acoustic music but these guys were amazing. At the end of the BPB set, I ran into the guy on the left and told him virtually everything I said in this paragraph and he gave me a hug except that I didn't realize he was going in for a hug and so we had this awkward shoulder bump and then we made out.

I saw them at the mothership in 98… it was unbelievable.. the vibe at the place was so good…
the next day we got stoned and drove around the hampton beltway three times before figuring out the exit to head south to Winston Salem…
Sidehatch is really to blame more than me as he was the driver..
Sad but true. Not sure why I couldn't just take the next exit and back track :-\

Did your boner touch his boner?
Yeah but then I changed into a hawk and he turned into an ice trampoline. It was so weird.

This my friends is why I still love this band. Sit back and take a listen… My christ.
ozzy . . . is the best. what a showman.
Melvins were so good at the Ottobar last night. 90 minute set… Lots of moshing (me included, which is rare). I loved it though!
If anyone is looking for something to do tonight, hit up the club and see some MELVINS!
My calendar for this week is empty. Nothing until next Saturday, then a nice three day run of shoegaze, grunge, hip hop…

Come to Cigarette at The Dunes Friday.
But then i would go to Cigarette - Friday, Run the Jewels - Saturday, Whirr/Nothing - Sunday, and then Speedy Ortiz/Roomrunner/Bleeding Rainbow/Hive Bent - Monday… Too much, I am not Joe! :)
i thought sabbath was way better than expected. band sounded great and ozzy's voice was in surprisingly good form on the older stuff.
fun show.
fun show.

At least stop by Comet on your way back from Run the Jewels for Hunx and his Punx/Chain and the Gang.
Maybe. If I did that I would definitely skip Nothing/whirr the next day.
