This week rollcall

Everything Sweetcell said.

Place is a shithole run by some of the scummiest people in DC. DC9 is tolerable as a venue but run by the same scumbags. If not going to either place means missing a band I like now and again (it's not like there is a shortage of shows on my calendar), so be it.
I also try to steer bands away from Lambert/Hood Booking when I can.
Showlistdc, you probably know as many people as I do who feel as though they have been screwed by them one way or another.

I guess some Republican members of Congress are scummier but it is close.
why are they so scummy?  Not paying bands?
Yeah, I know quite a few people in bands who were shorted.
I think a lot of it is due to that door polling BS they do. The idea of pitting bands in a who-can-get-more-people-out contest is repulsive to me and causes nothing but friction between bands in the community.

I have also known people who helped them book shows after which they were sketchy with money.
I do, and I hate the door polling, which is why I never give them an answer. I also hate pay-to-play, but if you want to see certain metal bands around here, you've got to go to Empire/Jaxx.  Every club has its issues.
I liked to go see Vintage Trouble at the Howard, but 11pm doors for the show is brutal….  :o
the sound last night at RNR Hotel for EFTERKLANG was great….but maybe because they have their own sound guy? Not sure.

Thanks.  I think I'll skip it.  I really want to see METZ, but I just can't justify going there again, especially if it's going to be a sold out show.

It's no fun to go to a show and be pissed the whole time because the venue sucks.

If anyone wants to buy a gold badge for SXSW from me, lemme know. I can't go for unexpected medical issue and although they initially said they'd refund, I provided a doc note and now they won't…So if you want to buy, lemme know I can transfer it. Thanks. (I'll be watching on the live streams I guess this year)

Do you know why they changed their name?

This week all I have is Mission of Burma on Thursday.

aw that is harsh….you got the right attitude though so kudos for you.
What did they call themselves prior to that name change? Believers?

Yes. They were called Believers when I saw them at ScapeScape.

thanks! although, I've had varying degrees of good / bad attitude over not going, my practicality sometimes can get the best of me. I'm letting it go I guess, as health and day job and to save money are important right now. I have feelings of regret for missing activities, seminars & shows I'd really like to see. (including talk/show w/ Depeche Mode! Dave Grohl! (although some things will be streamed online…).

I guess I understand their position, and maybe not surprised they can't provide a refund even for medical, but their response was odd. They asked me for more detail (not req'd per HIPPA) and changed their refund req'mnts in each conversation, all which I supplied. In the end, they said no.

Anyway, thanks again - I'll be more positive! :P Hope whoever goes has a great week. Lemme know if anyone wants it, even for half $ I'd give it away to someone who would like to use it.
Cigarette Tuesday
