This week rollcall

I'd like to apologize to Julian because I know he wants photographic evidence of me pulling my pud to MSTRKRFT, unfortunately all the pictures I had came out blurry from how vigorously I was tugging myself. So, as usual, you'll just have to imagine me pulling my pud. Hard.
A fair explanation.

Well, I'll talk to you later because I'm sure we both have something latently homoerotic to get back to.
I am very excited about the Yo La Tengo show tonight, even more so given the setlists the last two nights in NYC.

Hi everyone!
yep, those two nights at Town Hall = killer setlists
remember DC never gets good set lists or guests…ever.

bands don't much enjoy playing here.. people are too uptight…they don't get into it and the band feels it and returns the "favor"

they always save their best shit for NYC partly because that is where the reviews that matter come from…

unless you're GBV doing a Yahoo webcast in which case Pollard gets embarrassingly drunk and the band breaks up a few shows later in shame.
would you move . . . to get better set lists?
Natalie Merchant Wednesday.

I'm going to a show!

So happy I skipped this one…not sure what's up with YLT when they play DC. I'm sorry that I missed Stan Demeski doing "Sudden Organ" in NYC. And Philly looked great. But the past couple tours have been very lackluster in DC. And I agree, someone said that they're over that "Pass the Hatchet" song and I am too. They've got plenty of long jammy songs that are superior. "Blue Line Swinger" is far better, so is "I Heard You Looking".

Traveling 2 hours to catch a diverse setlist is totally worth it IMO. If I have friends in another city, sometimes I'll turn it into a weekend away if I can catch multiple shows on a tour. Depending on the band, it's usually worth it.
I have not been to a show in 15 days, since I decided to skip Lagwagon.  Tomorrow that changes when I go catch Vadya at Mobtown Studios for a Microshow.

I think that the Friends Records Fifth Anniversary show on Friday and Saturday at the Ottobar is it for me this week (I also might try to catch Crimson Wave at Metro Gallery on Friday, as long as their set doesn't conflict with anything I want to see at Friends).  I am trying to see the bands listed below.  I also think there might be a really big surprise guest for this…

Friday Dec 19
Expert Alterations
Et Al
Raindeer
Microkingdom
Goblin Mold
Rot Work
Wing Dam
Weekends
Will Redman
Co La

Saturday Dec 20
Chester Endersby Gwazda
Vayda
Television Hill
Outer Spaces
Blacksage
Sherman Whips
Microkingdom
Holy Ghost Party
Natural Velvet
Celebration
Bliss
Shields
Eze Jackson
Height
Bond St District
Meth Dad
DJed the Scythian show tonight
Going to Salad Days at AFI Sunday at 5pm!

Red Death and some other hardcore bands at Smash! Wednesday.
Crimson Wave and the Friends thing Friday.
Daniel Bachman/Nathan Bowles Saturday (contrary to Hutch's nonsense, it is in fact a show)

One of these days we will hang out… I know what you look like from Instagram but for some reason never can find you at any of the mutual shows that we both attend.

Sweet, see you Friday.

Also, too bad the Daniel/Nathan thing is Saturday; I am going to the second day of Friends Records fun that night…
Nathan/Daniel will be done at 9 at the very latest. You could do both if you don't mind missing the first few bands at Ottobar.
Maybe. I am not sure I will have the time to do all of that though.
Salad Days@AFI and possibly Red Hare@Comet Friday, Soulside/Moss Icon/Bandthatcannotbenamed@BC Saturday and Soulside/Office of Future Plans/Dot Dash@BC Sunday
