Noisepop used to be great…

Last week I saw Fitz and the Tantrums with Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr, this week Dr Dog.  Then we get into Noisepop and Coachella season…
Nakatani Gong Orchestra at Millennium Stage->Screen Vinyl Image/Insect Factory/Foul Swoops at CD Cellar Friday
Canid/Drekka/Kuschty Rye Ergot/Borborites at Amma House Saturday
I don't know what people are smoking when it comes to Kurt Vile…. show tonight was atrocious…. would be surprised if its not the worse show I catch this year.

Now Thurston Moore…. thats what I'm talking about… harp/violin/2 acoustic guitars/drums lineup never rocked so hard.

of course many DC "hipsters" left after Kurt Vile… maybe they were depressed at how shitty it was?
I saw Kurt Vile open for Espers once. He was just awful. Then his fans would not stfu during Espers set. Don't believe the hype with that guy.
rebirth brass band at 930 on thursday

Hmm maybe I will do Rebirth. Forgot that was this week.

Double Negative at Golden West Cafe Saturday night.

Looking forward to it almost as much as my wife is dreading it.

How was this show?  New singer?

That's unfortunate.
Never been to a bad Kurt Vile show…maybe you guys aren't familiar with his stuff?

I mean hutch's specialty is rock en espanol…

That's what I'm thinking.

Also, the BC for a solo acoustic set isn't the best setting IMO.

my "specialty" is music.

this show sucked.. sounded like a dying cat….  if dying cats "singing" is your specialty you may dig this

even the gram parsons song sounded horrible and its hard to mess that up..

what do you guys see in kurt vile? seriously. just atrocious.

You probably think Bob Dylan and Tom Waits are bad "singers" too.
How was Hush Arbors?

That was what I would have been psyched most for if I did not get shut out. Never saw him before. And like Joe said, Kurt Vile live never disappoints.

umm..you couldn't be more wrong! I've seen Dylan live about 15 times and he's probably my favorite musician..and yes, a great "singer"

Love Waits.. but have only seen him once..

All great shows.

To compare Kurt Vile to Bob Dylan is an insult to Bob!

Comparisons of Vile to Springsteen, Petty and now Dylan are laughable!

You're listening wrong then.
I love Kurt Vile and have seen him many times and if Monday was someone's first time seeing him, I can see why they'd leave w/a negative impression. Usually solo acoustic suits him well (best?) but there was something a bit off w/his performance. His set at Red Onion a year ago was far superior. Also didn't help that he didn't play some of his best songs from the new album ("Jesus Fever," "Baby's Arms").
After listening to his latest album I fall into the Kurt Vile sucks category.
