Az I think this Thursday Cigarette show was the one I was thinking about.

i thought this show was way too cool.  can bring in food and drinks.  they moved it inside due to expected rain (well, i assume at least), which was too bad, but it's a gorgeous place to have a show whether it's inside or out. there should be a couple more coming up this summer.
Heurich house is hosting indie rock now?  Kosmette used to work there….
Sunday - WWE Money in the Bank PPV in Philadelphia
Friday - Artscape (Matmos) then heading to Ratscape (Shining Mirrors, Raindeer, Arboretum, Flying Eyes)

that's awesome. they just started doing it, believe shows will be coordinated through http://pinklineproject.com/ and the heurich house as well.

i've been thinking about checking out their hops and history events, but it's pricey.

the specials tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only one needs to know about the B&S show, is that a couple forumite bucket lists got shorten… That and Legal Man ruled…

Great show; a lot of fun; glad I got GA. If I remember correctly, the last time they played MPP Stuart seemed out of sorts and lowish energy.  This time, he seemed thrilled.

Dancing on stage with the band….check.  ;D
Hahaha this makes three. And no I was not one.
Also the YLT set was excellent.
Paul McCartney show was awesome.  Glad I skipped the Belle and Sebastian show for him.  Sequence of Ob La Di, Ob La Da, Band on the Run, Back in the USSR, Let it Be, Live and Let Die, Hey Jude, Day Tripper had to be the best of any show in my life.

I was probably in the youngest 10 percent in the audience.  Never been to a stadium show before.  I would have preferred to be on the floor than being in the club level but it was still awesome.

National Park is certainly no Camden Yards.  Shitty area for a stadium.

bearman was also up on stage.

B&S were indeed wonderful.  i can't believe that anyone can walk away from one of their shows without a big stupid smile on their face.  stuart was indeed in rare form.  i slightly prefer their last show at DAR, but not by a lot.

YLT oscillated between ok and annoying.  they had some really nice moments in the first half of their set, but the second half was littered with self-indulgence.  kaplan's attempts at guitar-god antics during those 5-minute noise-solos just bugged.  it wasn't technically impressive - i can play that shit.  if the show was in a small club packed with their faithful i can see them getting away with that… but it wasn't.  for me, it was 20 minutes of good music stretched out over an hour.

spent the evening in the company of the boardee formerly known as julian.  his version of america lives on.  while hanging in the pit we engaged in a hardy game of "spot the non-caucasian"… we both lost.  he sends his greetings to miss p, vansmack and walkonby.

once again, got in and out of MPP with zero hassles.
Curses, once again foiled by my arch nemesis the playlist.  Got to the club last night, only to find out, the band had other plans for pre-show music.  Guess that means I'll just save that epic 10 minute extended version of Ultravox "Dancing with tears in my eyes" for another night…

Glad I stuck around, OMD were just great.  Andy's voice is great shape and he bounces around the stage like a man possessed when not singing.  And yes while for purely selfish reasons, I would have liked to hear more back catalog songs, the new album sounds great upon first listen.  They play several songs I own on 12" vinyl, including ending the night with their first single "electricity". Current EMD acts should take note, two keyboard players, bass and a live drummer and not an laptop or iPad to be seen on stage.

The opening act not so good…
Sweetcell, couldn't disagree more on Yo La Tengo but you probably figured this. ;D A little Ira guitar noise never hurt anybody. Like with the Feelies, their sets are a long exercise in tension and release with that 12-13 minute closer being the perfect cap.

And that is a bummer, Kosmo! I know how much you were looking forward to that DJ set.
Just popping in to say that I saw that B&S show at DAR on free, last-minute tix and was bowled over by how much I enjoyed it, way more than the show they did with the new pornos a few years ago and a black cat show a decade ago

YLT are one of the worst bands I have ever heard.  The guitar solos are indeed pathetic.  If they removed that guy from the band they would improve.  I heard this song on the radio the other day that was an obvious "Monster Mash" tune rip-off.  I was like I guess this vocalist is so bad that they would never sell enough copies of their song to be worth to sue.  Than I heard it was YLT and it all made sense.  Worst guitarist and worst vocalist in one person.

I wonder why great bands like Belle and Sebastian and Beach House have YLT open for them.
