This week rollcall

it will be worth it to me and the venue (for those bad at maths, I spent $98.40 on four tickets instead of $97.50 on three, and the venue will have one more drinker in the house).  Just sayin….

unfortunately that argument doesn't hold water… what if you were to give that ticket to a non-drinker/underage?  no alcohol revenue, and no ticket revenue.

Anyone going to see The Album Leaf tonight at RNR?

did you make it to this, hoya?  if so, how was it?

i'm currently listening to the new album and kicking myself for not going to the show.  i had plans, but i should have dropped them.

I did.

Show started late and I saw all of Sea Wolf, who I hadn't heard before and liked.  Sounded a bit like Matt Pond PA.  Lead singer was in Irving, who put out some fun psych-pop.

I caught maybe half of Album Leaf, who were REALLY good, but were putting me to sleep.  I wish RNR had brought the couches down from upstairs and plopped them in front of the stage.  The light bars they had around the stage were pretty cool.

Sound was pretty horrible for Sea Wolf (vocals all fucked up) and the Album Leaf guys kept complaining to the sound guy about the mix, but it didn't sound as bad as the opener.

You just described two groups I've given up on - those that don't drink and underage girls.

You sort of discount all of the benefits though.  What if that underage person had never been to the 9:30 and had the time of their life?  A new customer was born.  What if they'd never seen said band and became a fan?  They would return to see them next time they were in town.  What if they were crowd surfing and fell into the arms of an awaiting Thatguy?  That's a love story in the making.  True story too.
GIVERS tonight!  :-*
Beach House tomorrow
RNRH will never sound good because, you know, it takes some care on the part of the club owners to make a room acoustically sound, get a decent PA and hire/keep a good soundguy. The H St. invaders don't believe in a positive show-going experience for their clientele so long as they keep getting their money.

I looked around and couldnt find out either way.  The Velvet show is the first of the tour, so maybe you could catch the Baltimore show on Friday if one of us reports back that he did or didnt have a band in tow at the Velvet show on Thursday.
Definite

Bunbury at Warner Wed
Pearl Jam at Bristow

Game time decision

Buzzcocks at Black Cat
Pearl Jam at the Lube tickets in the 100 sections still available too  ;D
Will be coming up for PiL. Anyone else going, you're in for a real treat. Their Coachella set was spectacular.

If you see a dude in blue jeans with a dark t-shirt on with curly hair, be sure to say hello!
