This week rollcall

Aww yeah brahs

I usually go with my man to shows as long as it's some band I think he'd like.  And I also go to most of his own concerts (also helps that I like some classical music…)

Did we all marry partners who question why we would want to go to shows at our advanced ages instead of spending time with them?
My wife is a saint as well, although this week I may be pushing my luck again.
Option 1: My partner in life comes to the show with me and we make a day/evening/date of it
Option 2: I go by myself and make a night of it (happens rarely)
Option 3: I go by myself and show up 5 minutes before the show once my offspring have been put to bed and my partner in life is watching horrible TV.
if anything, my wife scolds me for not taking her to more shows… we both have too much else going on.

and based on the little information I know about your current residence, I'm assuming it's a good hour from a venue and that venue could mean an open mic night at a bar? amirite?

Should we all go to his musical theatre-ish thing this weekend?

we're not quite that bad off: with no traffic, we can be in seattle in 40-45 minutes.  saw the stones and tuxedo in august, but t'was a long time since whatever the show before that was…

the "downtown strip" of our little town (all 3 blocks of it), 10 minutes away, has a thai restaurant that has open mic night on thursdays ;D  last time i walked past it a teenager was strumming a guitar and murdering the cranberries' "zombie".  it was horrifying and comforting at the same time.
HA, I can't make it because of Orville Peck… ;D ;D ;D

mine doesn't lament me not spending time with her (goes to bed around 9pm)
more that 'I should grow up, what adult in their late 40s with kids goes to more than 2 or 3 shows A YEAR'
um, I know a guy with two thumbs who begs to differ…but sept/october is always a bitch, no matter how many times I state that this is when a lot of shows happen around the same time
Always forgets that from May to Aug, I catch only 3 or 4 shows

I've definitely heard that line before. Luckily, I probably only go to a dozen or less shows a year now, so I don't have to hear it that often…
My man, loves me . . . and loves when I get the hell out of his hair, to go to a show.  I prefer to go alone.  He hates concerts.  Too many people, for him.  I prefer having all the awesomeness, to myself.

so does that mean traveling to Seattle at 3AM?
Seattle traffic in my experience can be brutal

traffic is brutal, but avoid rush hour and there is a good chance (but no guarantee) it'll be manageable.  also, going into seattle = going against commuters.  so making a 8 p.m. show = 40-45 minutes.  making 9 a.m. start of shift: up to 2 hours.
Looks like I'm in for Nick Cave :D

  Massive Attack's setlist is a little odd….

so they are doing a bunch of covers that I guess were used in the samples?
I was listening to Mezzannine this morning and was thinking at one part…this sounds just like 10:15 Saturday Night
and come to find that's one of the covers they are doing

wonder if they do the whole song as a band or a DJ just plays the track?
