Justin Earle last night.
Very good show by someone who could best be called a talented, charming, charasmatic douchebag.

These guys got a better setlist, but I'm pretty happy with everything he played. All in all, got about three or four songs I've never heard before. Nice little way to round out the year.

great show, though the banter is a bit rehearsed. Would have liked to hear Rogers Park instead of that duet with Dawn Landes.
setlist: Who Am I To Say / Move Over Mama / They Killed John Henry / I Don?t Care / Ain?t Glad I?m Leaving / Mama?s Eyes / Mama Said / One More Night in Brooklyn/ Ain?t Waitin?/ Christchurch Woman/ Wanderin? /Slippin? and Slidin? / I Been Burning Bad Gasoline (Lightnin? Hopkins)/ It Won?t Be The Last Time (unreleased)/ South Georgia Sugar Babe / Someday I?ll Be Forgiven For This / Halfway to Jackson / Look The Other Way (unreleased) -not sure if this is the title / Midnight At The Movies/ Walk Out/ Harlem River Blues / encore: Rex's Blues (Townes Van Zandt) / Do I Ever Cross Your Mind? (duet with Dawn Landes) / Can't Hardly Wait (The Replacements)

Was I the only one whose enjoyment of the Gene Ween show was somewhat ruined by the crowd? I know people like to have a good time and all, but STFU for an acoustic show!
Also, it was very funny to see a bunch of people get thrown out for smoking pot. That's a really smart thing to do at the Black Cat.

The crowd was loud but I've come to expect that this would be the case at every mainstage show I see. That combined with the crowd of drunkards Ween and related bands draw had me knowing that the talkative crowd would be a fact of life and that I had to either make the best of it or be annoyed all night.

I hope I won't get lynched next time I'm at the club for saying this, but 2 hours seemed a little long for a Clutch set. I really enjoyed it, but probably would have liked it even more if it had been a bit more concise at 90 minutes or so.
Kylesa was amazing. Really psyched to see them at the Black Cat backroom in Jan.

That Kylesa/Universal Order of Armageddon conflict sucks. Rest of the Kylesa bill is not too shabby, either.

Haha yes I think that is who we're talking about. I recognized him and asked if he worked at the club, to which he responded yes, but i didnt have a chance to say more. both he and josh were watching from the front balcony.
also in VIP was chris adley (drummer of Lamb of God), he's a really nice guy. looking forward to their next show!

Anyone see the Roots either night? I wanted to make it but it wasn't working out. Last year's 930 Club show was incredible.
