I did occur to me that it was a tad unfortunate that the show was scheduled right after Grinderman and being mid-week didn't help.  I'm sure their fanbases are aging and even shows that get over by 11:30 are a stretch….

It was a bit tough for me to have the show mid-week and his set go on at 10:30. Still think it should have sold out. A great co-bill w/ him and The Posies. Aqueduct, I like a couple of their songs, but others not so sure. I hope they tour more and together!

Fort Wilson Riot were good openers.  Cloud Cult kicked ass like always.  Not a lot of people came out.The Black Cat was not packed, less than half full.  But they did their thing.  Had both painters on stage, but this time they would spin their canvases while painting.  It created some interesting effects.  The hour long set was about half Light Chasers tunes, and half oldies.  I cant remember all they played, but they definitely played a few of my favorites.  The sound was great too.  I think they might have brought a sound guy, or they just happened to know/thank him by name.  All in all well worth 16 bucks.

Sorry for the late reply - I wanted to thank you for the great details and review and pictures to boot! Thank you. Wish I could have been there.

Tragically, in the what-a-dumbfuck sense, I learned at an inopportune time that mixing a few beers, two 4lokos and then a coupla jack & cokes, along with a few other elements, is not a good recipe for success. I didn't make it  :'( :-X

Took me about two hours of walking the streets around the Black Cat with a grumpy baby in a stroller yesterday morning to find my car.
you're kidding right? i doubt he can even sell out the Black Cat.

I think more people should be listening and thus they deserve to be sold out.

ah yes, the "deserved sell out"…

outer body llama 12-1 at wonderland.. they deserve to sell out merriwether.. alas, you'll find them at wonderland..

on the other hand, one can get up real close!
I might do Kurt Vile tomorrow night at BC.
Kurt Vile
Tatsuya Nakatani at Artisphere Saturday
Kurt Vile was good at ATP NY. Might go check him out again.
Curious as to what this Pearling Hiss (guitarist for Birds of Maya) project is like.
I'll be coming up to see Peter Hook. Anyone else going?
I'll be there.

Also for me this week:
Killing Joke
J.C. Brooks and the Uptown Sound Friday at Velvet
Xeno and Oaklander at Velvet Sat
Taco Leg/Lotus Fucker Sunday
I would see Killing Joke but I can't make the drive 2 nights in a row
i hate the fact that i have put the personal kabosh on the shows going outings.  so many from the past and living so far from the good ones.  it gets tiring driving back n forth sometimes almost two hours one way.  and then i act mean to people like azag who go to a lot of concerts as if such an effort was attending school or going to work and thats just what you do.  my envy does call forth apologies.  i even gave up the jam band plans . . . but thats just because it got old and typical.
I'm in for JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound at the Velvet Frid

They were smokin' hot as the house band at the Numero Group show last year and I still stand by this description of them

The sound of a hard working Soul band that grew up listening to The Clash and what's amazing is that they work  them together without being overtly obvious.

That Peter Hook show was phenomenal. Loved every single second of it.
Yeah dude.

I went in with super low expectations but it was truly great.

His Ian impression is almost creepy.
