It’s weird…James has played the area over a dozen times. Pulp is a once in a lifetime gig, the greatest Brit pop band, etc. Can’t wait. Set list from last nights pulp US tour opener looks stellar.
That's a compelling argument, but honestly the only songs I know by Pulp are their William Shatner cover and Spike Island. I know and love lots of songs in the James setlist.

Kosmette ended up feeling the same way about Pulp verses James outside of "Common People" she really didn't know enough Pulp songs where as James she's been listening to them all those years. And don't get me wrong the current nine piece line-up of James is fantastic live and it will be a great show and outside of them playing that one album they are doing this tour, they usually have very varying sets and they have a very deep catalog at this point.
I got a James ticket.
Still sad I'm not seeing Southern Culture on the Skids tonight.

Friday: family movie night. It's my daughter's pick so I'm hearing either Mega Mind or The Silence. I'm rooting for the Silence.
Saturday: flu shots; crew swim test for my son; maybe the We Are All DC rally if I can fit it in; my son's movie pick (possibly Prometheus)
Sunday: visiting my mom; maybe catching Perennial at Atlantis

Take note of the above! This is how a professional concertgoer handles things….
Train into the city clearly loaded with Pulp Lumineers fans
Closures on way in to DC
Can’t believe they extended the military takeover until November 30!

Saw my first National Guard person at the Middle Eastern place I got takeout from. Small, black, cute, female. Didn't see a gun. I didn't feel threatened.

They’re not there to threaten white men.
OMG in DC they are everywhere and with big weapons. This isn’t just me saying it. You need to get out more Space and be a bit better informed. They even have checkpoints on bridges fucking people’s commutes.

Oh, I'm not disputing you. Just saying I haven't seen much evidence myself. My wife drives to downtown for work three is days a week and hasn't seen any either.
People tend to see what they want to see….there is definitely an increased presence in areas that have little need for it like on constitution avenue by mall or the wharf. Anyways don’t want to belabor it.
Monday 9/8 - Brian Jonestown Massacre. Hope Anton hired a drummer he likes this time.
Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson at Outlaw Festival on the 14th

I expect this to be the last time I see these absolute Gods of Music. I cannot imagine having lived my life without either of them. Excited about Bob’s crazy Outlaw set lists. Assuming Willie is closing show? Only time I ever saw Bob not close was when he played Nissan Pavillion in I want to say 98 and Paul Simon closed. Paul was so good that night…

In the early 2000s we drove to Baltimore to see BJM and we learned show wasn’t happening once we got to Baltimore. Sucked ass. We had a friend in Baltimore and dropped in on him and sampled his homebrew and the evening kind of sucked.
Never did get to see BJM. I guess this is my chance but September is cray.
